Luxury yacht charter in Monaco

The home of yachting, Monaco is the place to be for some of the world’s biggest events or as part of any French Riviera itinerary. Visit for superyachts, supercars, Michelin stars and champagne bars.

Charter a yacht in Monaco for a one-off event like the Monaco Masters, Monaco Grand Prix or the Cannes Film Festival, or for a longer holiday on the French or Italian Riviera.

You could explore the Palais du Prince in Monaco’s Old Town, dating back to 1191, which has been home to the Grimaldi family for over 700 years. Make time to take in the must-see attractions that include the world-renowned Philharmonic Orchestra, the opulent Monte Carlo Casino and Monaco Cathedral. Dine at some of the region’s best restaurants including the triple Michelin-starred Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris or the double starred Restaurant Monte Carlo created by the late Joël Robuchon at the Hotel Metropole. Let your hair down at Nikki Beach or the Fairmont Hotel, Le Bar Américain or the famous Blue Gin of the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel.

Monte Carlo is home to a glamorous and opulent atmosphere combined with stunning natural beauty. Views from the rocky headland of North Monaco makes for the ideal spot to take in the cuisine and views. Shopping is a must, with the Condamine Market offering the most picturesque scenery, not to mention the many luxury haute couture fashion brands on offer. Of course, the Monte Carlo Casino is famous worldwide and is a highlight of your Monaco yacht charter itinerary, too.

Monaco itinerary

Start your Monaco yacht charter in Portofino. Originally a small fishing village shaded by eucalyptus and olive trees, it's become a sunny and relaxing paradise on the Ligurian Riviera. Start your superyacht charter to Monaco here, where you can enjoy the exquisite swimming cove at Paraggi or the summit of Monte Portofino. Drinks at the famous Hotel Splendido overlooking the harbour are a must.

Porto Cervo

Following an overnight crossing, you’ll wake up in the capital of the exclusive Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo. The breathtaking views, crystal-clear water, golf, tennis, great food and night-life are the main attractions of this Meditteranean gem. Blessed with many beautiful sandy beaches, relax and enjoy playing with water toys in the magnificent waters of Porto Cervo. Cruise to Liscia di Vacca for a late lunch or for some tranquillity and relaxation time. This beautiful bay boasts clear turquoise water and is situated between the harbours Porto Cervo and Pevero. When the sun goes, head to Cervo’s lively marina for dinner and drinks in the evening.

Cala di Volpe

Arrive in the morning after a short cruise in Cala di Volpe, a beautiful wide bay fringed with sandy beaches and clear waters that’s perfect for snorkelling and watersports. Spend the day anchored off the bay of Cala di Volpe which is well protected from the wind, Its crowning feature is the spectacular five-star Hotel Cala di Volpe at the end of the bay. This hotel is overlooked by the Pevero Golf Course and on the other side are the fabulous villas of La Celvia.

La Maddalena

Start the day with breakfast on-board before enjoying the water toys in La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re tired, it’s time to relax between Caprera and Maddalene, nicknamed ‘swimming pool bay’ thanks to its crystal clear waters. Stopover at the marine reserve of Lavezzi, known to divers as ‘Meruville’ due to its impressive tally of resident Meru (or grouper) fish. The reef comprises a series of rocky pinnacles coated in yellow cup coral, ideal for snorkelling. Spend the night anchored between Caprera and Maddalena.

You’ll arrive at St Tropez in time for breakfast. This modern version of a medieval town is popular for the line of stylish yachts along the quay and quaint terrace cafes. The small picturesque streets are perhaps more famous for the multitude of boutiques and restaurants than for any historical significance. Relax and enjoy watersports and swimming in the lovely blue waters of the Bay of St Tropez before cruising to St Tropez Port late afternoon ahead of sunset.

In the morning you'll have a leisurely breakfast whilst cruising to Monaco. Spend the afternoon enjoying watersports, swimming and soaking up the sun. Shop at the famous Cercle d’Or, check out the alleys of the old town or browse the galleries of the Métropole shopping centre and the Allées Lumières. For a night out on the town, the Casino and Hotel de Paris are all synonymous with Monaco. Go for drinks at the hotel’s famous American Bar, or try Louis XV by Alain Ducasse. You could dine at Cipriani to experience its luxury nautical theme and Mediterranean menu, or try La Trattoria by Alain Ducasse and its Tuscan-inspired Italian cuisine.

Your Monaco superyacht charter finishes at 12 noon. Depart and spend the rest of your day enjoying all that the Principality has to offer.

Yacht Club Monaco

Founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier and presided over by HSH Prince Sovereign Albert II since 1984, the Yacht Club de Monaco brings together more than 2.500 members from 80 nationalities. Many of the world’s most prestigious private yachts fly the Yacht Club de Monaco’s burgee, testimony to its unique position on the international yachting scene.

Inauguration of the new YCM building

At 43°44’15’’ N and 7°25’40’’ E, this hi-tech building which looks like a liner docked on Quai Louis II is home to two of the Principality’s historic clubs: the Société Nautique (rowing club) and the Yacht Club, a meeting point for owners and focus of international yachting activities. Alongside Lord Foster and Monegasque architect Alexandre Giraldi, Jacques Grange and Nelson Wilmotte have put their talents to the service of the new building’s interior and exterior layout and design.

“ Allow me to express a very sincere wish that the Yacht Club de Monaco fulfil its mission as a link between people who love the sea, that it serves the interests ”

— Prince Rainier III

To be a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco is above all a commitment. It is a desire to preserve a certain ethic, both on land and on the water, and to foster a respect for naval etiquette and preservation of the environment. The Yacht Club de Monaco’s philosophy is based on the need to perpetuate but also to pass on a heritage, inherited from our ancestors, to ensure that the Yacht Club remains a lively and progressive place.

VIDEO: The Exclusive video debut of 80 meter LEONA

By Editorial Team   1 September 2023

Introducing LEONA, the second hull from the 80m 263 series,  built by the renowned Turkish shipyard Bilgin Yachts, LEONA sets itself apart from her sister ship TATIANA with a number of remarkable features and designs.

Scheduled to appear at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show , the general arrangement in comparison to TATIANA remains largely unchanged.  Superyacht LEONA focuses on providing larger accommodations and emphasizes spacious room sizes. Her lower deck showcases this concept with an additional storage space in the form of a large owner's dressing room, replacing one of the cabins.

On the main deck, LEONA offers two generous VIP cabins with his and her bathrooms and dressing rooms, replacing the four guest cabins. The owner's deck experiences the most significant change, with the superstructure extended aft to create a palatial owner's suite. A private lounge with access to an exterior pool completes this lavish space.

LEONA's interior exudes opulence and sophistication, incorporating a bold and rich palette. Intricate detailing, decorative finishes, and a variety of textures are seamlessly integrated throughout the yacht. Gloss lacquers, backlit onyx, figurative timbers, gold inlays, and luxurious textiles create a visually stunning ambiance. The interior design was heavily influenced by the owner's love for travel, rich materials, and desire for exciting features, resulting in unique and captivating spaces that enhance the onboard experience.

The main stair lobby, spanning over three decks, features a striking bubble tank with RGB lighting and pulsing water jets, set against a backdrop of black marble with gold detailing. The main salon captivates with an imposing tiger onyx fireplace that divides the space between the formal dining area and spacious lounge. Inspired by African animal prints, textures, and patterns, the mirrors, mullions, and textiles create a harmonious and luxurious atmosphere, complemented by Roberto Cavalli furniture.

LEONA's lower deck boasts an extraordinary beach club layout, reminiscent of motor yacht TATIANA. However, the design theme takes a different direction. Greek statues sit on the pool edge, spraying colored water into the blue-patterned tile pool. Above, a fiber optic ceiling creates a mesmerizing 'night sky' star pattern. Composite marble reliefs capturing enchanting forest scenes adorn the sides of the pool, while amethyst stones and agates embellish the bar on the starboard side. A Moroccan-inspired hookah room, with sliding glass doors and a fold-down sea terrace door, offers a connection to the sea. The furniture in this area is richly decorated with timber carvings, gold upholstered trims, and sumptuous cushions.

The lounge features a glass cube-textured ceiling pierced by a skylight, surrounded by a mother of pearl cornice. Rich purple tones dominate the room, with gold trims adorning the furniture and sumptuous cushions.

The private top deck of LEONA is a haven of extravagance, blending contemporary and traditional architectural detailing. The central bathroom showcases ornate gold and blue tiles, accentuating the lavish shower room and circular bathtub. Mother-of-pearl panels bordered by white marble and ornate leaf cornicing adorn the bulkheads.

The owner's bedroom combines black and gold finishes, featuring a platform bed with black agate bedside tables flanked by polished black sahara marble. A cubed glass-textured ceiling, punctuated by a large skylight, bathes the room in natural light, highlighting unique loose furniture pieces.

The Denison expansion into Europe began with the opening of the Monaco office in early 2022, with plans for additional offices to open across Europe in the not-too-distant future, beginning with London in 2023. Monaco was selected to be the European headquarters for Denison Yachting given its status as the global capital of superyachting. Ideally situated overlooking Port Hercule and with terraces offering an ideal vantage point to watch the iconic F1 race in the late spring, the office now houses the European team of charter and sales brokers, charter management, and back office support team.

Become a member

One team, one spirit, one club.

An individual wishing to become a member of the YCM needs to be introduced by two ‘sponsors’, both must be YCM society members. Any person who has been a society member for more than one year (with the exception of Board Members) may propose one applicant per session.

Twice a year, HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco, convenes a meeting of the Admissions Committee to examine all applications. New members are officially welcomed to the YCM at a cocktail party attended by members, after which it is customary for the new entrant to celebrate his or her membership at a dinner in the Club’s restaurant.

yacht le monaco

The Candidate

One of the sponsors must request an application form from the ‘Service Membres’ and go in person to pick it up. The form, having been duly completed and signed by the candidate and the two sponsors, should be accompanied by a letter of introduction from the first sponsor, explaining why the candidate wishes to join. It must be returned to ‘Service Membres’ within six months. After this date, the application will be cancelled.

The Sponsor

The sponsor plays a key role when introducing a new member to the Yacht Club de Monaco. It is their responsibility to ensure that newcomers fully embrace life at the Yacht Club, by introducing them to other members and involving them in events organised by the Club, whether they be of a social, cultural or sporting nature. The sponsor should also be committed to ensuring that the person they propose is encouraged to adopt the YCM’s philosophy and values, by actively participating in the life of the Club and constantly striving to raise the YCM’s standards.

Only one applicant per sponsor (society member) may be proposed and submitted per session for approval to the Admissions Committee which reserves the right to refuse any applicant without notification.

HelloMonaco

Did you know? Stalca and Deo Juvante II, two yachts for the Princess of Monaco

Story behind the first meeting of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier

Royalties like any other humans also want to escape from journalists, protocols and other fuss. Everyone needs a quiet place to relax in the circle of just your loved ones. The 25-meter yacht Stalca was one of such private places for Princess Grace and her family.

Stalca yacht

In the early 70’s the princely couple of Monaco ordered a yacht from the Dutch shipyard Visch in Holland. By the standards of the time, it was considered quite large, but still not a superyacht. The English Queen Elizabeth II in contrast owned the 120-meter Britannia built in 1954 and accommodating up to 250 guests.

However, the yacht ordered from Visch was the one the Prince and his wife believed to be ideal for a family vacation. There was enough space to accommodate eight guests and a small crew. The layout of the yacht included a master suite, a VIP room and two double cabins.

yacht le monaco

The construction of Stalca was kept secret to avoid its mention in the press. It is therefore not surprising that its original photos are rare to be found. The princely family wanted to keep this part of their history just to themselves.

Surely, you must have heard of the princely family of Monaco . If so, you may guess where the name of the vessel comes from. It represents the initials for the names of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace’s children: Stephanie, Albert and Caroline. The tradition of naming the yachts mixing in the names of the princely children dates back to 1963. That’s when Albercaro (II) was first launched into the waves. Interestingly, a fire broke out on board before the yacht’s delivery and the princely family had to wait until the next March to receive it. The yacht, however, did not stay in Monaco for long and a year later went to a new owner in Abu Dhabi.

On the occasion of Princess Stephanie’s birth, Prince Rainier III purchased another motor yacht named Carostefal. We can all agree, however, that Stalca still remains a better name for a yacht.

The history of this 25-meter is not yet over. In 2015, during a yacht show in Palma, she found new owners. To comply to international safety standards, some adjustments needed to be made in Stalca’s layout and equipment. The main idea, however, was to keep as closely as possible to the original. Thus she still has a bell engraved «Stalca Monaco».

Deo Juvante II yacht

Another princely vessel worth mentioning is Deo Juvante II. In 1956, Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III took it on their honeymoon sailing along the French coastline, Valencia and Mallorca. The yacht was their wedding gift from the Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis who showed a considerable entrepreneurial interest in the Principality and had long been on good terms with the ruler of Monaco.

The yacht’s history dates back to 1928. It was built by Camper & Nicholsons’ and launched under the name of Monica for the French-Argentinean entrepreneur Jacques «Santiago» Soulas.  In the late roaring twenties the Soulas family sold the yacht which subsequently kept changing owners up until 1939. During the World War II, it was used against German submarines for military operations near the British Isles. In 1947, the 44-meter yacht was purchased by Onassis.

After the wedding of Rainier and Grace, Deo Juvante II (translated «With God’s help» from Latin) remained the Prince’s yacht for several years. In 1958, it was sold and then changed owners several times.

The yacht is known to have attracted the attention of Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. He wanted to use it as a shadow boat for his megayacht Octopus. However, by that time the vessel had already been bought by Quasar Expeditions.

The yacht underwent a restoration in the early 2000s and is cruising the Galapagos Islands under the name of Grace. This is a hint to its guests of its historical origins.

Learn to play, enjoy, borrow: welcome to Monaco’s games library

frederic-chauvy-nathan-tibaut-ludotheque-monaco

One of the constituent parts of Monaco’s médiathèque (media library), the ludothèque (games library) has a wide selection of games for all ages.

This month, Monaco’s Médiathèque will be promoting video games of all types . Workshops, round tables, activities, gaming sessions… There has been plenty to see and do, and there’s more to come! You can see the programme on this page .

“Our aim is for video games to be seen here at the media library as a medium for dialogue and social interaction.”  Having qualified as a games librarian 6 years ago, Frédéric Chauvy has been working at the Monegasque games library since November, arriving a few weeks after his colleague Nathan Tibaut. The pair helped put together this special month focusing on video games, a game format that is an integral part of the range on offer at the library. Over 80 video games are available to borrow, for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and 5 and Wii U.

yacht le monaco

The library organises video game sessions every Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 4pm to 6pm. ” We give people the chance to come and play, and we set up a dedicated area with our different consoles ,” says Frédéric, adding that these post-school activities have been a great success with many youngsters. “We get all kinds of profiles: experienced players who come to try out a game, people who perhaps can’t play at home or even some who don’t know how to play.”

Advice and support are also part of the day-to-day activities of the games library team, for all ages. “Depending on the behaviour we observe in the younger children, we may have a word with the parents. The ludothèque also provides support for parents, who can react to video games in different ways, to the point of ‘demonising’ them in some cases.”

Frédéric tells us that mediation is an integral part of the games library’s work. This is reflected in the evening events organised on the premises, such as one entitled “Battle of the generations: parents versus children.”  The aim: to collect points by pitting the little ones against the adults on Tetris, Mario Kart, Street Fighter or Just Dance. With 64 points each, it was a draw between the parents and the children. “ We try to bring everyone together, with games that are about having fun and sharing ,” adds Nathan, who is looking forward to Monaco’s Médiathèque ‘moving house’. The future premises will bring together the four arms of the current media library: the Louis Notari library, the games library, the music and film section and the Princess Caroline library, which is for our youngest readers. Everyone will have more space and a better layout, but the transition is not without its challenges!

Because, in addition to video games, the games library stocks some 1,100 games and toys of all kinds. Most are board games, with an impressive collection to delight enthusiasts, but which also needs to be replenished. “Games and ranges change a lot,”   says Frédéric, who attended the ‘Festival du Jeu’ (games festival) in Cannes in February. The games librarians need to try out each game and understand the basics before making it available to the public.

As far as events are concerned, Frédéric tells us: “the concepts go down well.” In addition to video gaming evenings, there are also evenings devoted to board games, belote and role-playing. “We want to offer as many different things as possible, and we have our regulars every week,” says the organiser with a smile. To make sure you don’t miss any of the action, check out the Médiathèque de Monaco website.

Frédéric Chauvy and Nathan Tibaut have put together a selection of must-play video games from the games library, with more to come in the future.

Nothing’s going right at home for Rose. Her parents May and Cody can’t work things out and have decided to divorce. Rose doesn’t agree with the adults’ decision and is convinced that her parents still love each other. She makes two little figures, effigies of the couple, and makes a wish that things will work out for the best. A few minutes later, the parents’ spirits enter the two figures their daughter created. This is where It Takes Two starts, a cooperative game that was voted Game of the Year at the 2021 Games Awards. To get back to their human form, Rose’s parents have to go through a series of tests in their own home and work together to figure out what’s wrong in their relationship. It Takes Two is for two players, each playing one of the parents. You can borrow it to play on your Nintendo Switch.

Mr.Coo lives in a surreal world, where the little yellow man is searching for the different parts of his body. This is a ‘ point’n’click’ game, increasingly rare in recent releases. The idea is to solve puzzles by clicking on each item on the screen. Then, Mr. Coo’s head, legs or torso will move around to try to find and free the other cartoon body parts. The Mr. Coo character and the game were created by the artist Nacho Rodriguez, a 2D animator who was awarded the Goya Prize for his short film ‘A lifestory’. Try it out on the PlayStation 5!
