SAMAR Yacht – Luminous $100M Superyacht

SAMAR yacht was a marvel at the time of her build. The 77m luxury yacht has many amenities that make her the ultimate experience of luxury and opulence on the sea.

She had renowned designers work on her to bring her to completion, and she continues to be a luxurious yachting experience.

SAMAR yacht interior

The interior of the SAMAR yacht is the definition of luxurious with its spacious internal layout. Joe Thome designed the interior. There is accommodation for 12 guests in 7 staterooms and 26 crew members.

The owner’s stateroom is on the main deck, with 2 VIP cabins on the lower deck, two double cabins on the lower deck, and one small one on the bridge deck.

The interior features a spacious saloon and dining room with 3m high windows. There is a covered deck bar and dining area, a helipad, a side garage, a movie theatre, a fill-fitted gym, a steam room, and both hot and cold pools on the upper deck.

The helipad is designed to hold a Bell 407 helicopter and has refueling facilities. The garage is filled with toys like jet skis, wave runners, diving equipment, water skis, snorkeling gear, fishing equipment, and a MINI Cooper Cabriolet.

The wet dock on the aft is designed for a 33’ CrisCraft ridged gulled tender and the four tenders on board.

The exterior of the SAMAR yacht is designed by H2 Yacht Design and Nick Meyers, two hugely respected names in the yacht building industry.

Laurent Giles designed the naval architecture, and the build was executed by Devonport Yachts of England in 2006.

At the time of her build, the SAMAR was the largest ship to ever be built in England. The hull is steel, and the superstructure is aluminum.

Specifications

The 77m has a gross tonnage of 2150 GT, which is the largest to ever be built in the UK to date.

The SAMAR yacht has a beam of 13.11m and a draft of 4m. She has a range of 6,000 nautical miles with cold storage provisions for 44 people.

Her 3 Wärtsilä diesel engines provide a cruising speed of 12kn and a top speed of 16.5kn. She is in the top 5% LOA of all boats in the world, with a running cost of $5-$10 million and a value of $100 million.

Motor Yacht

Samar is a custom motor yacht launched in 2006 by Devonport Yachts in Plymouth, United Kingdom.

Devonport Yachts was acquired by Pendennis Shipyard Ltd in February 2010. More recently Devonport has been rebranded as Pendennis Plus to align itself more effectively with the Pendennis Group of Companies.

Samar measures 76.88 metres in length, with a max draft of 4.00 metres and a beam of 12.80 metres. She has a gross tonnage of 2,159 tonnes.

Samar has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure.

H2 Yacht Design was established in 1994 specialising in the interior design and exterior styling of superyachts. The director Jonny Horsfield and senior consultants have between them over 30 years experience in the yacht industry during which time they have been involved in over 100 superyacht projects.

Her interior design is by Joe Thome.

Samar also features naval architecture by Laurent Giles and Devonport Yachts.

Samar has a top speed of 17.00 knots and a cruising speed of 12.50 knots. She is powered by a twin screw propulsion system.

77m new build motor yacht, project description.

Samar was the first Superyacht completed by Devonport Management Ltd (DML) in 2006. Laurent Giles were involved from the start of the project, developing the initial proposal designs from exterior styling by H2 and went on to supply a full Naval Architecture and Design package, including principal structure design to Lloyds Special service Craft Yacht P Rules, and engineering plans.

She was one of the first Superyachts to adopt a full diesel electric propulsion system with triple Wartsila generator sets and twin 1800 kW 600v electric propulsion motors, this allows for efficient powering throughout the speed range, up to her maximum trials speed of 17.3 knots. The Design also features a flooding dock built into the stern capable of taking a 12m high speed motor boat, this is in addition to the usual dry tender garage with side opening doors, plus a fully compliant heli deck. Initial hull design testing was done by Laurent Giles at the Southampton Solent University towing tank.

SAMAR is the epitome of a luxurious mega yacht. This 77m masterpiece offers a helipad, a large Jacuzzi pool, extensive deck space, a cinema saloon and beautiful ornate accommodation for twelve guests. Inside, there is a fabulous feeling of volume and light coming through the many windows, particularly in the main saloon and dining areas. SAMAR also boasts an elevator allowing easy access to all four decks, a fully fitted gymnasium, sauna and both Jacuzzi and cool pools on the upper deck. Accommodation is provided for twelve guests in seven staterooms over four decks. The master cabin is full beam on the main deck, has exceptional view throught the 180 degree windows and a beautifully ornate en suite. Two VIP cabins (one twin and one double ) can be found on the lower deck and two double cabins. A further double can be found on the bridge deck. With a range of over 6,000nm she is ideal for world cruising in the finest of comfort.
