modern classic racer cruiser

The ICE YACHTS boat-yard presents in the market the new ICE 52, a fast cruise dedicates to passionate and competent owners that seek enjoyment and strong emotions at the helm. Built with highly innovative materials and advanced construction techniques the ICE 52 is in a league of its own in all that regards performance, comfort on board and ability to take on even the toughest conditions at sea. Excellent for demanding cruises and regattas.

The design is inspired by the boats smaller sibling, the ICE 33 a killer regatta boat, from which it takes the “scimitar-like” design of the bow and “smiling” carving the shape of the stern.

The project has been realized by Felci Yacht Design and the production is done in the nd has completed more than 80 prestigious maxi-yachts.

The hydrodynamics are nothing less than impressive. The water lines allow the ICE 52 to glide at very high speeds due to its max beam of 4.65m and the carefully studied appendages also grant the yacht great upwind capabilities: the ICE 52 shows no problem in taking on the wind coming from extremely narrow angles.

To guarantee this level of performance are the advanced technologies used in the construction process and the elevated skill of the artisans who have great experience and expertise in their field.

ICE 52 – tested and reviewed

Over the past few years the italians have honed the fast cruiser into an almost trademark package. sam jefferson tests the ice 52, the latest take on this genre.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

Personally, I like this concept and I’m not alone, because demand for yachts in this genre is on the up and it has led to a plethora of new yachts. The Italians have led the way which is only right and proper given their excellent tradition of producing effortlessly stylish.. cars, clothes, boats – take your pick. The ICE 52 is another addition to this growing fleet. ICE Yachts is a small yard based in landlocked Salvirola near Milan. Their 52 fits the modern template of the fast cruiser perfectly. Designed by Umberto Felci – probably best known in the cruising world for his work with Dufour and Beneteau – the 52 is a purposeful looking boat, featuring not a Dreadnought but a scimitar bow which is an inverted curve. This is combined with relatively low freeboard, broad aft sections and a soft turn to the bilge aft.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

Cruising comfort

Now, if all of that sounds a bit racy, fear not. I can assure you that this yacht offers all the comforts you’d expect of any normal cruising yacht. In fact, she is in essence a yacht you primarily cruise but occasionally enter into a regatta. Once glance down below confirms this. She is definitely not a stripped out racer. Indeed, she offers a higher level of comfort – and space for that matter – than my own home. This is also evident on deck where there is a distinct lack of any sort of cat’s cradle of lines and rope. The running rigging is uber simple and the yacht could easily be managed singlehanded or two up. In common with all boats these days, the decks are beautifully clear and uncluttered while the cockpit is so spacious that it really is a wonderful place to be. The traveller running across the cockpit sole is really the only indication that this is a yacht with racing pretensions. The twin helms are set slightly further forward than on many yachts of this type and this allows for excellent lines of sight for the helmsman. Storage has not been overlooked either and there is a huge lazarette aft that can be accessed either from a large opening in the cockpit sole or via the huge drop down bathing platform. There’s masses of room in here for a decent sized dinghy if required. Up forward there is also a cavernous storage locker which could be fitted out as crew quarters, but ICE has wisely left it bare meaning you can cram all the fenders, sails or any other paraphernalia in here with ease.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

All in all, the feeling on deck is one of space. This massive amount of space means that all the deck hardware is well placed both for short handed sailing or racing. There is also a sensible mix of electric and manual winches. In common with many of these sportier cruiser/racers, there is a certain feeling of openness and exposure in big seas, but this has been meted somewhat by shifting the steering wheels forward.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

Keep it simple

Head down below and the theme of extreme simplicity remains. There is something rather manly and minimalist about many modern yachts interiors and the ICE is certainly no exception. Think lots of hard lines and a total lack of clutter. Think the precise opposite of the sort of slightly bohemian, cluttered, comforting yet ultimately damp and smelly interior of any cruising yacht circa 1985. At times I thought it all very modern and metrosexual but there were moments where it also felt bland and I found myself strangely nostalgic for a nice set of floral curtains. You know, just to set the whole thing off somehow. Still, life moves relentlessly on. The quality was generally excellent and even the lack of bare plywood edges in hidden nooks and crannies was impressive. There were also plenty of nice little bespoke touches that spoke of time, thought and the extra mile being put into the finish too. ICE is a relatively small company, so they are happy to add in a few custom touches here and there. You have the choice of two different interior layouts, one with the galley towards the bow and a second, more conventional layout with an L-shaped galley situated in the aft section of the saloon to starboard.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

I was fortunate to sail the ICE in its natural domain off the coast of Tuscany where a gentle September breeze wafted down from the mountains and seemed to urge us to head offshore to the distant island of Elba. The breeze probably maxed out at 15kn but most of the time it blew 10kn. The ICE was in its element here with her light displacement and beautiful sails from Marco Holm’s Milleniumtech sail loft ensuring that we sailed upwind at between 6.5 and 7kn. Boatspeed upwind in a displacement monohull always makes me smile as it’s rather like competing to be the tallest pygmy. Hull speed is hull speed – Theresa May would doubtless agree. Anyway, she (the yacht, not the PM) pointed beautifully and the handling was wonderfully poised and responsive, with something of the feel of a big dinghy. She will make you smile, but you will still only be doing 8- 10kn or so.

ICE 52 - tested and reviewed

Sam’s Verdict

This is an Italian Yacht and I have therefore deliberately steered clear of the terms ‘passion’ and ‘flair’. Until now when, in some sort of form of journalistic tourettes, I’ve blurted both out. Just thank God I didn’t use the term ‘sexy’. Anyway, this is a yacht that does have a certain intangible quality that you just don’t get from a standard production yacht. Do not be fooled in any way into thinking this is a racing yacht either. The owner of the yacht I tested was an ex dinghy racer who needed a comfortable yacht on the Tuscan coast to cruise with his family and (very) occasionally race. I suspect he is typical of ICE Yachts’ clientele. The ICE is stylish, she’s fast for a cruising yacht and she looks the part. She’s also comfortable, practical and well behaved. All this comes at a price – particularly compared to a standard production yacht – yet the reward is very simple: unfurl the gennaker and you might just end up flying. For sure, I would favour a heavier yacht on an ocean crossing, but for a week’s cruising in style in the med, this is hard to beat.

  • FAST CRUISER

ICE 52 B01-17

The ICE 52 comes as a “synthesis” between the fast “race horse ICE33” whose innovative hull, developed through years of research has demonstrated outstanding performance in all conditions, and the “classic” Fast Cruiser ICE62, in which the spirit of the elegant and modern cruiser blends almost invisibly with great qualities of seaworthiness, performance and easy handling. To achieve this ambitious goal, we started modelling a hull with hydrodynamic solutions generally adopted on uncompromising race boats and we shared it with this fast cruiser project. We achieved a performing boat which is also very liveable externally, with simple and extremely functional deck gear, and a working deck mostly free from manoeuvres. At the same time she has convenient and habitable interior space, where traditional woodworking and composite materials are well-mixed to obtain a light, elegant and comfortable yacht. Decisive for performances are keel and rudder profiles that are particularly optimized; thanks to the high percentage of weight in the keel, the boat has a high righting moment, synonymous of stability, performance and safety. The sail plan follows exactly the same philosophy, it has its origin ina racing yacht but with all those simplifications that make it easy for a family crew to handle.

ICE YACHTS LAUNCHES ITS 17TH ICE 52

ICE YACHTS 52 “Goose” is the ICE 52 no. 17 launched by the shipyard as a part of the RS series which includes the lighter, sporty and high-performance models of the brand.

The metallic selenite gray color scheme, reminiscent of a sports car livery, fits perfectly on the elegant and aggressive lines of the Felci Yacht Design hull, also highlighted by the absence of glass. The 3.5-mm Plasdeck synthetic teak deck covering contrasts with the white-painted deckhouse while the cockpit retains the hull colors.

The innovations of the new ICE YACHTS 52

The new features presented on this new ICE YACHTS 52 “ Goose ” promise a major increase in performance. The new keel layout is the result of a design by the Felci studio, which developed new lines for both the fin and the numerically controlled milled bulb, bringing the overall depth to 3.2m.

ICE-YACHTS-52-GOOSE-Bulb

The new mast is made of high module carbon fiber and is set up for a square top mainsail, with double backstays and adjustable shrouds from dedicated winches. Harken’s 65.3 carbon 3-speed winches allow the full potential of the increased sail plan to be exploited, as well as enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the deck equipment.

The 110hp Yanmar 2.0 engine allows to enjoy an excellent motor boating experience and is equipped with sail drive transmission.

ICE-YACHTS-52-GOOSE-LAUNCH

Layout and interior

The interior layout of this new ICE YACHTS 52 has been adapted for family use, with two large three-person aft cabins served by a bathroom, and the forward master cabin with en-suite head. This maximizes the union of galley and dinette volumes, creating space and brightness that balance the absence of hull glass. All interior spaces are embellished by the use of real teak, at the owners’ request, and exposed carbon fiber details, which trace the modern classic style that is now a signature of the ICE YACHTS and FELCI YACHT DESIGN duo.

The systems have been adapted to the standards required by the Caribbean climate of the Cayman Islands, the destination of the new ICE 52 RS. In fact, a new 40000BTU air conditioning system has been installed for all rooms, powered by a 6kW generator in addition to the batteries. The owner chose B&G for the on-board electronics, which can be controlled from the two consoles and chart area.

ICE-YACHT-52-CONSOLE

Another jewel of the sea from ICE YACHTS that will soon therefore turn the heads of the many sailors who cannot help but admire this magnificent yacht.

Cool as Ice – the new Italian brand Ice Yachts is on a roll

  • Toby Hodges
  • September 25, 2015

Are these new Umberto Felci-designed semi-custom cruiser-racers from Italian company Ice Yachts the latest word in cool?, asks Toby Hodges

ice 52 yacht

Since it announced its first two new models in 2013 – 44ft and 62ft Felci designs – the Italian brand Ice Yachts has been on a roll. It created a weapon of a 33ft day-racer last year, is launching this striking 52 this summer and will follow up with its first catamaran, the Ice Cat 61 (below), next year. And this is just the start of a full range of monohulls and multihulls the company intends to roll out.

The team behind it has built maxi yachts for the last 30 years at the former CN Yacht 2000 facilities near Milan.

Ice Yachts is more focused on custom or semi-custom building than series production, but it has obviously found popularity with its high-end products.

Ice Yachts’ new 52 is designed by Umberto Felci, as is the brand’s entire monohull range. “To my mind he is the best designer in Italy,” declares Ice Yachts’ CEO Marco Malgara. Malgara thinks the 52 shares the contemporary, sporty look of the exciting Ice 33-footer that launched last year, a day-racer that resembles a mini TP52. She has recently been nominated for European Yacht of the Year .

Felci agrees, but also insists the hull shapes of the 33 and 52 go way back. “The first boat with that ‘champagne glass’ shape was our fantastic Open 33 Bravissima , which launched in 1994,” he explains, “and is still winning races everywhere (including 3rd overall from over 2,000 boats at the Barcolana 2014).”

IC52_STD_04_wip copy

He says the canoe body shape of the 33 and 52 is an evolution of that initial hull. “The main concept is low wetted area and long waterline length at zero heel – and high form stability that is increased by the heel angle.”

The difficulty Felci faced was with taking these hydrodynamic solutions created for racing and adapting them for a performance cruiser. “If the 33 is a pure racer, with the 52 the job was complicated by the fact that she had also to be a comfortable cruiser, and that the external style had to be modern, aggressive and elegant.”

The bow profile of the 52 is what really catches the eye. She has very full forward sections and an unusual stem; Ice Yachts describes this as a ‘scimitar’ in shape, the inverted curve being similar to the curved swords of the early Middle East. The combination of full forward sections and extensive beam provides “high dimensional stability at high angles of heel,” says Felci.

ICE52_alt2_Race copy

Malgara explains that they have been deliberately aggressive with her design and that the 52 is beamier than the 62. She weighs just 12 tonnes – more than two tonnes lighter than the Solaris 50 on test this month (see page 60) – yet can set nearly 400m 2 of sail downwind, which offers a clue to her potential performance.

The lightweight, stiff properties of the Ice 52 are inherited from her composite build. Ice Yachts uses a three-step infusion process – infused outer and inner skins, and a vacuum-bonded PVC core – to gain maximum mechanical properties for minimum weight. The 52 also has carbon reinforcements, structural tanks, flanged bulkheads for better adhesion to the deck and sandwich-built furniture.

ICE52_2-1 copy

The Ice 52 looks like a feisty cruiser that can be sailed short-handed yet also compete in crewed regattas. I like the way the twin wheels are sited quite far forward for good sightlines, something Ice did to good effect with the 62.

The Ice 52 will make its boat show debut in Cannes in September. Look out for our full guide to the new launches at the autumn boat shows in the next issue.

With the announcement of its first catamaran, Ice Yachts declares it is aiming to produce a multihull range from 50-70ft. The designer is Enrico Contreas whose history is synonymous with the Mattia brand of multihulls he has designed since 1970. This ranges from sports and Formula cats such as F18s, to folding trimarans and cruising cats up to 60ft known for their speed and manoeuvrability.

For the Ice Cat 61, the yard has taken the Mattia 56 as a benchmark, a catamaran that can reportedly reach 23 knots under autopilot. Cruising speeds of 25 knots plus are expected from the 61, and her projected motoring speed is 13.5 knots.

Ice_Cat_61_04 copy

She will have a carbon mast that sets a generous sail plan. Ice Yachts says this will be easy to manage thanks to a mainsheet and traveller that can be push-button controlled and a self-tacking Solent.

The bows of the Ice Cat 61 have been given the half-moon ‘scimitar’ shape similar to the Ice 52. The company believes that, in this case, it is a practical shape that extends hull space and helps create forward volume to prevent the bows burying into waves.

Ice catamarans will be built like the monohulls – light and stiff. Options include hybrid propulsion or diesel-electric power, plus another patent-pending power solution the yard is working on that will function if there is a problem with the electronics.

The yard is also considering a turbo upgrade for adrenalin junkies: a full carbon, foiling version. A 61ft cruising cat that can fly? Pass the Chianti.

Price TBD – launch date summer 2016. www.iceyachts.it

** Meaning of the boat name – Skidbladner (Old West Nordic: Skíðblaðnir, “composed of small thin wooden boards”) is in ancient Viking mythology the god Frej’s magical ship in which all the Asa gods are contained. Frej can fold the ship together like a tablecloth and put it in his purse when it is not needed. Skibladner also always have tail winds regardless of the direction the ship is sailing and can sail over ground and water. Skidbladner (like English “she” = Shedbladner) were built by the dwarfs and the sons of Ivalde.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

The ICE YACHTS boat-yard presents in the market the new ICE 52, a fast cruise dedicates to passionate and competent owners that seek enjoyment and strong emotions at the helm. Built with highly innovative materials and advanced construction techniques the ICE 52 is in a league of it’s own in all that regards performance, comfort on board and ability to take on even the toughest conditions at sea. Excellent for demanding cruises and regattas.

The design is inspired by the boats smaller sibling, the ICE 33 a killer regatta boat, from which it takes the “scimitar-like” design of the bow and “smiling” carving shape of the stern. The project has been realized by Felci Yacht Design and the production is done in the historic site of Yacht 2000, construction yard that has had over thirty years of experience and has completed more than 80 prestigious maxi-yachts.

The hydrodynamics are nothing less than impressive. The water lines allow the ICE 52 to glide at very high speeds due to its max beam of 4.65m and the carefully studied appendages also grant the yacht great upwind capabilities: the ICE 52 shows no problem in taking on wind coming from extremely narrow angles.

To guarantee this level of performance are the advanced technologies used in the construction process and the elevated skill of the artisans which have great experience and expertise in their field.

DESIGNER’S COMMENTS:

The ICE52 was born as a “synthesis” of the very current ICE33s, whose innovative incredibly performing hull developed in years of racing and research by Felci Yacht, has demonstrated exceptional performance in all conditions and of the ICE62 Fast Cruisers, where the basic concept, that is that of fast, safe and comfortable cruising develops with a modern and elegant style that gives these yachts an undisputed prestige.

To succeed in this ambitious goal, we started from the modeling of an extremely avant-garde hull with hydrodynamic solutions generally adopted for racing boats, without compromise, transferred to this fast cruiser project.

Thus a high-performance and exploitable boat was built outside, with simple, extremely functional equipment, as far as possible with the bridge free from maneuvers and at the same time comfortable and highly habitable inside, where traditional carpentry and composite materials are well mixed to obtain a light, yet comfortable boat. The choice of appendices that use particularly optimized profiles is important for performance; thanks to the considerable percentage of weight in the keel, a high straightening moment is obtained, synonymous with stability, performance and safety. The sail plan follows exactly the same philosophy, that is, that of being derived from racing, but with all the simplifications that make it suitable for a cruise crew.

We wish her new owners fair winds and following seas.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

Green Point beach near Yamba littered with debris after abandoned boat runs aground

A remote beach near Yamba on the New South Wales north coast is littered with debris and diesel after a boat ran aground and was smashed to pieces in the surf overnight.

Witnesses said the boat was abandoned by its occupants as they were attempting to cross the Clarence River bar around lunchtime on Monday.

NSW Road and Maritime said the occupants were evacuated from the vessel by a NSW Marine Rescue crew.

Angourie resident Oli Coe said he later saw the vessel adrift about 2 kilometres offshore.

He watched the boat throughout the day and at one point saw another vessel alongside it.

He said someone boarded vessel and put out its anchor.

Jetsam on beach

"As the wind got up through the rest of the afternoon, we watched the boat drifting and dragging on its anchor and eventually it just dragged way too far and ended up on the beach," Mr Coe said.

At one stage Mr Coe and two friends used jetskis to get out to the boat to see if they could do anything to help.

He said he could not understand why it was not salvaged before it ran aground near Green Point.

"There was definitely some damage to the boat but it was in perfectly good condition [before that]," Mr Coe said.

Clean-up concerns

Locals spent Tuesday morning on the beach, dragging piles of debris above the high tide mark in a bid to ensure it is not taken back out to sea with the next high tide on Tuesday evening.

Angourie resident Kim Wood said the usually pristine beach at Green Point looked like a "rubbish dump".

"I'm looking at kilometres of debris," she said.

"There is timber, there is oil cans, jerry cans full of diesel, so much plastic, and everything is soaked in diesel.

"You can still see all debris in the ocean."

Ms Wood said the area was home to a wide range of birdlife including oyster catchers and curlews.

Too dangerous to tow

NSW Maritime said the boat was deemed too dangerous for authorities to board or tow.

Senior boating safety officer Bret Ryan said authorities needed to put safety first.

"Marine Rescue revisited the boat several times on Monday, and eventually the Water Police came from Coffs Harbour," Mr Ryan said.

"They came to the same conclusion that it was too dangerous."

"At that point the vessel was secure and the hope was it would remain in that position but unfortunately that didn't happen."

Mr Ryan said the main hazard on the beach was from any sharp objects that might remain buried in the sand.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

ice 52 yacht

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.
