The 110m/360'11" motor yacht 'Anna' was built by Feadship in the Netherlands at their Makkum shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Brian McCarthy Inc. and she was delivered to her owner in October 2018. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Michael Leach.

Anna has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests in 9 suites comprising two VIP cabins. Additionally, there are 2 staff cabins aboard which can accommodate up to 4 members of the owners staff and security team. The ANNA yacht is a 110m Feadship Superyacht designed by Michael Leach Design in 2018. She has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and is the largest yacht ever built by Feadship.

She can accommodate 16 guests and 32 crewmen! Powered by 4 Caterpillar engines, she cruises at 14 knots and maxes out at 18 knots.

Being one of only 58 yachts longer than 100m, ANNA costs an astronomical $250 million!

Dmitry Yevgenyevich Rybolovlev born 22 November 1966 is a Russian businessman and investor. He is proud owner of $250 million super yacht Anna . As of November 2020, Rybolovlev is ranked 224th on Forbes’s list of billionaires with a net worth of $6.6 billion. He is one of the alleged victims of Swiss art transporter Yves Bouvier as part of The Bouvier Affair.

Owner of AS Monaco

Rybolovlev relocated to Monaco in 2010 and in December 2011 bought a 66% stake in the Monegasque association football club AS Monaco FC.

The club was in a bad state at the time, playing at the bottom of the French second league and highly in debt, and the Monaco Palace was looking for an investor to improve the club’s prospects. According to French media reports, Ryboloblev acquired the club for a symbolic €1, but with a commitment to invest at least €100 million ($129.4 million) into the club over the next four years.

The remaining 33% stake in the club is owned by Monaco’s ruling family, the House of Grimaldi , with Rybolovlev’s acquisition of the stake in the club approved by Prince Albert II of Monaco. Dmitry Rybolovlev was subsequently appointed president of the club.

The motor yacht ANNA I is a 67 m 219 (ft) significant steel vessel which was constructed at The Feadship De Vries Shipyard and her design is by De Voogt Naval Architects and Michael Leach Design. The private motor yacht has been envisaged from the naval architecture of De Voogt Naval Architects and Michael Leach Design. Michael Leach Design produced her interior design brief.

The Building & Design for Luxury Yacht ANNA I

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architect involved in the formal superyacht design work for ANNA I. Her interior design was realised by Michael Leach Design. De Voogt Naval Architects and Michael Leach Design is also associated with the yacht wider design collaboration for this yacht. Created at The Feadship De Vries Shipyard this vessel was fabricated in the known yacht building country the Netherlands. She was officially launched in Aalsmeer in 2007 before being delivered to the owner. Her hull was constructed with steel. The motor yacht superstructure is fabricated extensively with aluminium. With a beam of 13.1 m / 43 ft ANNA I has impressive interior. A reasonably deep draught of 3.6m (11.81ft) limits the amount of certain harbours she can enter, contingent on their specific characteristics. She had refit maintenance and modification carried out by 2009.

M/Y ANNA I Engines & Performance:

Powered by twin CATERPILLAR diesel main engines, ANNA I is able to attain a top speed of 17 knots. Coupled to the ANNA I engines are twin screw propellers (van voorden). She also has an efficient range of 6000 nautical miles when motoring at her cruise speed of 14 knots. Her total HP is 5364 HP and her total Kilowatts are 4000. With respect to the ship’s stabalisers she uses Quantum.

Accommodation 

This 60m Feadship super yacht can comfortably accommodate 12 guests in 6 luxury cabins. The master suite plays host to incredible double height ceilings which allow for a stair up to a ‘vista lounge’. This provides access to the deck. There is also a walk-in dressing room, the owner’s office and an en-suite. There is also one VIP cabin on the bridge deck with a queen-sized bed and an en-suite. The rest of the guests can be spaciously accommodated in 2 double cabins and two twin cabins. All four of which have Pullman bunks. Each cabin is meticulously decorated with superb furnishings. Providing guests with the highest levels of comfort and style.

There is certainly never a dull moment on board ANNA I thanks to her extensive array of water toys and tenders. On board there is a Vikal 8m Limo tender and open beach boat, a 4m tender, and a Novurania rescue tender. Her water toys include  2 Yamaha 3-seater jet skis, 2 windsurfers, a 9m slide and 2 kayaks. As well as 4 sets of full diving equipment, water skis, wake boards, 2 seabobs and 2 jet surfs. Anna: The modern classic yacht that conceals some serious technology

Anna is a custom 65ft Spirit of Tradition yacht with some very high-tech features concealed beneath her classic exterior, reports Alison Langley

When approaching Anna moored at the dock, it’s hard to immediately tell whether she is a restored classic or a recently built replica. In fact, neither is true; Anna is a new build designed to include both the virtues of a classic yacht and the technical achievements of a modern cruiser.

Anna ’s story began two decades ago when owner Tony Merck began thinking about stepping up from small classic daysailers, like the Herreshoff 12 1⁄2 and the Bjarne Aas-designed International One-Design, into a larger cruiser that could maintain a classic aesthetic.

Merck had watched the birth of the Spirit of Tradition genre and had followed boats like the Pedrick-designed carbon beauty Savannah , as well as the Joel White-designed W-Class day racers. But his ambitions lay less with recreating an early 20th Century racer. Instead he admired the sturdy, able cruisers from past designers such as Fife and Alden, while he also loved the modern construction and high specification of this new generation of classics.

In the summer of 2015, Tony approached Robert Stephens of Stephens Waring Yacht Design and work began on proposal sketches for the boat that would become Anna at their design offices in Belfast, Maine. Stephens has had a lot of experience with modern wood construction, having worked in the Spirit of Tradition genre since before it even had a name.

Tony and his wife Ann knew they wanted her to be built in Maine, but were not set on a yard. Robert Stephens and business partner Paul Waring took Tony on a guided tour of five top Maine yards before deciding to go with Lyman Morse, of Thomaston. Coincidently, Tony had played soccer and rebuilt old cars with yard founder Cabot Lyman in prep school some 50 years before.

Systems expertise

Lyman-Morse is well-respected in the custom boat world, but were not then as well known for building wooden boats as many other Maine yards with expertise in cold-moulded wood construction . Lyman-Morse did, however, have a reputation for high-quality glassfibre and carbon boats, but won the job thanks to their systems expertise and a modern approach to construction, including the integration of old-school hand craftsmanship with cutting-edge equipment like five-axis CNC machines.

I was hired by Ann Merck and Lyman-Morse early in the project to photograph the entire project from start to finish, and make a coffee table book about Anna as a surprise gift for Tony. Project manager Lance Buchanan made sure my visits were timed so I could capture the build at the right moments.

Anna was built using a wood composite cold-moulding system. Her hull is planked in four layers of wood – an inner layer of tongue-and-groove Douglas fir strip planking, screwed and glued to the laminated Douglas fir frames. That’s followed by two layers of diagonal veneers, and a final layer of longitudinal strip planking, the whole sheathed in two layers of biaxial/mat glassfibre and epoxy.

Her deck is built as a sandwich, separate from the hull: plywood laid over a temporary mould, covered with CoreCell foam, then another ply skin, with a laid teak weatherdeck. Once interior components were in place the deck/cockpit/deckhouse assembly was installed as a unit.

Modular build

Lyman-Morse built Anna ’s interior in modules, allowing them to fabricate the galley, head, and main saloon off the boat and then lift each completed section into the hull. When each module was installed, the bulkheads mated against the curvature of the hull perfectly, with no trimming or additional tweaking required. Anna ’s construction adage became, literally, ‘measure once, cut once’.

Since Anna ’s design brief called for a classic ambience, that meant that hundreds of feet of hydraulic lines, electrical wires, and even halyards needed to be concealed beneath the yacht’s joinery. The designers at Lyman-Morse and Stephens Waring worked closely to come up with innovative ways to hide these wiring runs and mechanical spaces. By creating a complete 3D model of Anna they were able to plan these tiny crevices before construction began.

Stephens Waring brought in interior designer Martha Coolidge to contribute her fine eye to the style and detail of the interior, which was painstakingly developed with a combination of hand-coloured sketches, computer renderings and tactile examples. “I think we went through 17 iterations of the brass light-switch covers!” recalls Stephens.

Anna is intended for easy daysailing, and her deck layout reflects this. A roller-furling boom from Southern Spars makes simple work of the large, high aspect ratio mainsail. A self-tacking jib will be the go-to sail for most of her career.  Anna ’s captain, Jim Murphy, enjoys sailing with guests aboard. “I love to call ‘Ready about’ and watch the guests ask ‘What happens now?’ and see their faces when I say ‘Nothing’, and just spin the wheel,” he comments with a grin.

But ease of sailing has not dulled the experience. Murphy explains: “Under sail, Anna is like a wonderful dancer. Her motion, her response to the sea and helm are like no other boat that I have sailed. An absolute joy.” For Anna ’s forays onto the racecourse, she switches to the ‘race jib’, a 100% working jib that fits on the furling headstay. A Code Zero and masthead asymmetric round out her inventory.

Hidden high tech

Anna ’s traditional style masks lots of high-tech systems. Sail handling systems are all push-button: electric winches, roller-furling boom and jib, and hydraulics to drive the sail controls. Two hidden systems maintain her classic lines while adding 21st Century functionality: a below deck anchor deployment system, and a side-boarding platform that eases access from a tender and provides a swimming ‘porch’.

Beneath the saloon is a state-of-the-art engine room with turbodiesel motor, lithium ion batteries and multi-compressor air conditioning. A touchscreen nav plotter in the raised saloon disappears into the furniture with a touch of a button. Her deck saloon windows are power-operated at rear and sides, allowing airflow and communication with people sitting in the cockpit at the push of a button.

Following her launch in April 2018, Anna has completed two sailing seasons, split between Rhode Island, Maine , and Nova Scotia , with a good mix of day sailing, Spirit of Tradition racing, and overnight sails. She’s earned silverware in both Sprit of Tradition races and design awards but, more importantly, she’s fulfilled the ambition her owners had 20 years earlier to expand their world of classic sailing.

Love her or hate her, you have to admit she has taste. Anna "Delvey" Sorokin has enthralled Netflix viewers in the recently released series based on her life posing as a German heiress, tricking New York City's elite into thinking she was worth $65 million. Sorokin conned her way into long stays at luxury hotels, vacations fit for a queen, incredible parties and lavish meals at some of the Big Apple's finest restaurants.  "Inventing Anna" is based on real-life events concerning Anna Sorokin and the people in her life. The Netflix series kept things authentic by filming mostly in New York City where Anna swindled her way to the top, but it also took us around the world. From the 11 Howard hotel in New York to a yacht in Ibiza to the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, here are several locations featured in "Inventing Anna" that you can visit.

Note: Some of this text may contain spoilers, and while we know that filming did take place at many of the actual locations, some of the hotels opted not to allow filming inside. Instead, crews made recreations or filmed in similar-looking locations.

11 Howard (called 12 George in the series) is the hotel where Anna stays the longest, three months, and meets the concierge Neff who then becomes her friend. During her stay, Anna racks up a total bill of $30,000.

While creating the illusion of wealth by tipping in hundreds, Anna conveniently forgets to give the hotel a credit card when she checks in but is removed from the hotel once she's caught. Visit 11 Howard

Speaking of that infamous trip, why would you offer a trip to all of your friends if you couldn't pay for it? We have no idea, but that's what happened. Anna, her trainer Kacy, friend Rachel and a videographer landed at La Mamounia, an insanely beautiful luxury resort in Marrakech.

We see in many of the scenes that the hotel staff attempts to secure a working credit card from Anna, which they never receive. After Anna promises to sort out the money problem with her bank, friend Rachel puts down her company credit card after being assured that it will only be a hold until Anna pays. This results in Rachel having over $60,000 billed to her company Amex. Yikes!

The Beekman

When Anna returns from Morocco, she goes to The Beekman — claiming The Mercer is sold out — for a 20-night stay.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Two crew members on a Holland America cruise ship died during an “incident” in the ship’s engineering space, the cruise line said.

The unidentified crew members died Friday while the Florida-based Nieuw Amsterdam was at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, Holland America said in a statement.

Authorities were notified and the cause of the accident is being investigated, the cruise line said. Crew members were being offered counseling.

“All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with our team members’ families at this difficult time,” the statement said. “The safety, security and welfare of all guests and crew are the company’s absolute priority.”

The cruise line did not offer any further details about the crew members. It later said the Bahamas Maritime Authority was leading the investigation. The ship set sail out of Fort Lauderdale on March 16 for a seven-night trip.

Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Nicole Bajic explains the science behind the Purkinje Effect and how you can experience it during the solar eclipse.

The upcoming total solar eclipse will have some unusual effects on animals and the weather , but people who are in the path of totality may experience a strange effect with their vision and not because they use the wrong eclipse glasses.

"There's this thing that happens in the eye as we transition from day to nighttime called dark adaptation, but it takes about 20 to 30 minutes," Dr. Nicole Bajic, an ophthalmologist at the Cleveland Clinic, told AccuWeather's Tony Laubach.

The quick flip from day to night has an unusual reaction on eyesight, specifically with how we perceive colors. This is known as the Purkinje Effect .

"Reds appear [sic] kind of dark and then the, the greens and blues will pop in contrast," Dr. Bajic said.

Reds and green will appear much differently during a total solar eclipse than any other day, as demonstrated by AccuWeather Meteorologist and Storm Chaser Tony Laubach. (AccuWeather)

Wearing a green or red shirt on the day of the eclipse could help people take notice of the Purkinje Effect. Additionally, having red and green objects nearby while watching the eclipse can also help folks take notice of the eclipse's side effect.

"If you have a lot of people around you, if you're, you're making this a group activity, you could have some people wear red, some people wear blues and greens," Dr. Bajic added.

The Purkinje Effect may also explain the viral debate from 2015 about a dress that to some appeared black and blue while others saw white and gold.

DII NCAA men's basketball championship history

The Division II men's basketball championship consists of a 64-team field with eight qualifiers from each region competing at a single regional site. Twenty-three teams earn automatic qualifications and the remaining 41 receive at-large bids to the tournament. Once the eight regionals conclude, respective teams will advance to the Men's Elite Eight at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The DII men's basketball national championship dates back to 1957, skipping 2020 due to COVID-19, with the first-ever championship trophy going to Wheaton (Ill.). Kentucky Wesleyan is the winningest team, with eight national championships. Evansville follows with five titles.
