Tropical Island Paradise superyacht Concept

By Adrian Prisca

Published on July 27, 2011

tropical island paradise yacht

The newest concept from Yacht Island Design is The Tropical Island Paradise superyacht, a massive 90m yacht which is shaped, as its name states, as a tropical island. This new crazy, yet interesting yacht concept seems to resemble a secluded volcanic island with elements inspired from islands from the Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Polynesia as well.

The exterior of the yacht looks contemporary and in the same time it gives the impression of waves breaking around a volcanic island. The main deck is a private beach with a large swimming pool located forward that is fed by a stream of water coming from a cascading waterfall on the volcano further aft. A couple of private cabanas located between palm trees line the edge of the pool and provide a relaxing outlook over the pool and the ocean.

Behind these cabanas there’s a bar area, a seating area and an area for al fresco dining. Tropical Island Paradise can accommodate up to 10 charter guests in its luxurious cabins. The owner’s suite is located inside the volcano and spread over two decks with a balcony and private spa while the remaining suites all have private balconies as well and direct access up into the main deck cabanas.

The yacht also features a dedicated helicopter landing platform, deployable floating beach islands, a cinema, library, games room and gym, a fully equipped spa and a multitude of lounges. The yacht should be able to reach a top speed of 15 knots propelled by a diesel electrical power plant.

The 90m Tropical Island Paradise design has a theme that is centred around a secluded island paradise, with elements inspired by the islands of the Caribbean.

The main deck is a secluded beach ‘cove’ of cabanas surrounding a massive ocean view swimming pool.

Behind these cabanas there is a bar area, communal seating area and an area for al fresco dining.

Inside the huge, towering volcano is a cinema, library, games room, gym, spa and VIP suites – including an owners pad spread over two decks.

The exterior of yacht was designed to give the impression of waves breaking around a volcanic island, whilst maintaining the look of a contemporary yacht design.

The lavish yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests – and can travel along at a top speed of 15 knots.

Tropical Island Paradise Yacht Concept

tropical island paradise yacht

These are some of the initial ideas created during the conceptualisation stage showing a wide variety of designs.

From these designs, elements and features are extracted and combined to produce the final yacht concept.

The brief for this yacht concept was to create an idyllic, floating island, with all the features of a tropical island getaway built into the design. As you can see, from the early stages, we wanted to include elements close to the water, deployable, as well as a mountain/waterfall feature.

A colour perspective sketch of the final yacht concept. This shows the design nearing its final form, with colour to better express the mood, and atmosphere of the yacht island. Here we get a better idea of the open-face swimming pool peering out to sea, and the form of the foliage and waterfall against the superstructure.

Profile drawing to show the final design. The profile sketch helps to finally show the scale of elements, and now demonstrates the free-flowing nature of the hull, mimicking waves, and gives an idea of the volume that the body of the ship encompasses, and a rough feel for how much space might be enclosed in its vast structure.

This image shows a number of the key elements of the exterior main deck. These include the swimming pool, guest cabanas, the bar and outdoor dining. The waterfall can quite clearly been seen running from the volcano and feeding into the swimming pool.

This view shows the guest cabanas nestled around the pool and highlights the two deck owners’ suites carved out of the front of the volcano and looking out across the bow. The interior features an owners suite located inside the volcano and spread over two decks. The living room balcony affords views out over the front of the yacht from behind the waterfall. Located behind the bedroom is the owners private spa.

The rear view shows off the sculpted wave-form of the superstructure, as well as the rear deck which doubles as a helicopter landing pad, just one of the available options for reaching the yacht whilst at sea. Further accommodation can be seen on the flanks, taking the form of four VIP suites all having private balconies and direct access up into the beach cabanas.

One of the more unique features of this yacht is the deployable beach deck which allows acces to the sea for various watersports and sea level relaxation.

Indoor entertainment is catered for by way of a cinema, library, games room and gym, with relaxation options in the form of a multitude of lounges each offering their own unique ambiance, and a fully equipped spa.

Tropical Island Paradise superyacht has water cascading from its volcano

tropical island paradise yacht

If you love tropical island adventures, then the chartered 90m long ‘Tropical Island Paradise’ superyacht by Yacht Island Design is just the thing you need. Inspired by the Caribbean islands and other islands of the Indian Ocean and Polynesia, the yacht promises to be a tropical island all by itself. The yacht features a 33m beam with a draft of 8m and can hit top speeds of 15 knots. On the outside, the yacht sports a modern look, with designs that appear like “waves breaking around a volcanic island.” The main deck is designed like a private beach “cove” that sports an ocean-view swimming pool that gets water from a stream originating from a gushing waterfall located on the volcano further aft. The collection is lined with private cabanas nestled between palm trees, a bar, a communal seating area, and an alfresco dining area. The aft deck also houses a dedicated helicopter landing platform.

Current projects and upcoming yacht island concepts

Streets of monaco, the blueprint.

'The Streets of Monaco' is our first design proposal. The theme is based around the Mediterranean principality with the primary focus being the famous grand prix circuit. The idea was to recreate the circuit as a fully functional kart track able to accommodate three karts side by side to allow for plenty of overtaking. By sizing the track in this way it has driven the overall dimensions of the yacht and the placement of the famous landmarks. The Monaco story extends beyond this exterior architecture and into the interior spaces giving a seamless transition as guests move between the various areas of the yacht. The following pages show some early concept sketches and a variety of artist's impressions of the final design.

Further concepts

One of the concept design options

Exterior and Close Ups

Artists impression of the chosen design for The Streets of Monaco - showing the key landmarks of the principality, Hotel de Paris, Casino, Prince's Palace, Loews Hotel, Port Hercule and La Rascasse.

'The Oasis', located aft, acts as the main boarding point for the yacht, an expansive area modelled on the gardens just outside the Monaco Casino. On entering the Oasis, attention is immediately drawn to the central waterfall feature consisting of upper level pools cascading down into the lower pool and Jacuzzi. Radiating from the pool are numerous shrub lined pathways and secluded seating areas. Large exterior windows surround the entire aft section of the oasis, extending to the full double deck height ceiling allowing natural light to flood the space. Located forward on the lower level is the Spa, with manicure and hair salon, private massage suites, sauna/steam rooms and a large relaxation lounge featuring a spa pool with bar. To either side of the spa entrance are located grand marble staircases and elevator access to the mezzanine, with a cafe bar and magnificent views of the gardens below.

'The Grand Atrium' is the central hub of the yacht, linking the upper and lower living areas. At its centre is a large, ornate spiral staircase which surrounds a waterfall feature that is supplied by the glass bottomed fountain from the garden area above. A small cafe/bar area ensures this feature can be enjoyed while relaxing in comfort. The seven guest suites are located off of the lower atrium level and vary in size, from the more modest 135 m2 suite to the grand 356 m2 VIP suites. All include their own reception room, bathroom, dressing room, bedroom and balcony. The VIP suites have the added luxury of a private office.

The Owner's Apartment

At the farthest end of the Atrium lies the Owners Apartment. Connected to all decks via a private lift and spread over 3 floors, it covers a total 1460 square metres of floor space. As well as the usual lounge with a feature fire place and double height ceiling, office, bedroom, bathroom, his/hers dressing rooms, the apartment also benefits from a listening room, private courtyard, sunroom, numerous balconies and private sundeck with a Jacuzzi/swimming pool.

Project Utopia

Initial concept.

Visions of the future are often constrained by familiarity with the present or reflection on the past. Project Utopia, a collaboration between Yacht Island Design and BMT Nigel Gee, is an avant-garde vision of a future concept free from such restricted thought. Before trying to understand the design one has to examine why the greater majority of yachts have evolved to the traditional form that has derived from millennia of engineering and naval architecture. Once the mind is free from these constraints the possible forms that a concept might take are wide ranging.

Bird's Eye View

Much is made in today's design community of starting with a blank sheet of paper. Yet many if not all yacht concepts revert back to that traditional form; the perception that a yacht should be a form of transport becomes an immediate constraint. Utopia is not an object to travel in, it is a place to be, an island established for anyone who has the vision to create such a place. Measuring 100m in length and breadth, and spanning over 11 decks with the equivalent volume of a present-day cruise liner there is enough space to create an entire micronation.

Where Do You Want To Be?

Utopia is able to adapt to various environments while maintaining guest comfort. With the deployable glass canopy panels covering the interior decks, full climate control is possible, despite the geographical location and outside conditions. The image above left demonstrates a folding deck deployed from one of the leg structures, capable of launching various craft and enjoying the calmer seas.

Below Water Level

In today's context Project Utopia might be viewed as a folly, an extravagant expression of architecture and form based on a perception of the future. The visionary will, however, be able to grasp the paradigm shift and see the future as being totally unconstrained. These low angle views show the azimuthing thrusters, able to propel Utopia through the water.

Key Features

- 100m x 100m in size, with the equivalent deck space of today's cruise liners. - Space to create a bewildering amount of interior design options, such as a retail district, theatre, culinary zone containing an eclectic mix of restaurants and an entertainment zone featuring bars, nightclubs and a casino. - An observatory deck with breath taking 360 degree views at a height of 65m above sea level. - A true architectural, and engineering masterpiece designed to present the smallest possible profile to the water's surface.

Tropical Paradise Super Yacht Comes with Its Own Volcano

By: Nidhi Goyal | February 12th, 2014

If you can build a mini Monaco on a yacht , why not build a yacht with a volcano on it too?

The Tropical Island Paradise yacht is designed by UK-based company “Yacht Island Designs”. The super yacht brings to life the ambiance you would find on most isolated islands in the Indian Ocean or the Caribbean seas with a few extra perks.

The deck has a volcano, a beach with a swimming pool in the center and live cabanas. The exterior of this lavish yacht was designed to give the feel of waves breaking around a volcanic island while maintaining the look of a contemporary yacht design.

Here are some features of this Luxurious Tropical Island Paradise super yacht:

  • The yacht is about 90 meter (295 feet) long and 38 meters (125 feet) wide.
  • The yacht has a total guest area of about 3,400 sq meters, catering to up to 12 guests and 20 crew members.
  • The yacht consists of 5 bedrooms, a 25 meter (82 feet) swimming pool and is equipped with high-end features like a movie theater, music room, games room, library, gym, sauna and even a beach.
  • The pool is surrounded by palm trees. The pool is deep and also lets you view out the front of the yacht through a large glass wall.
  • Underneath the pool, there is a recreation area for an assortment of expensive water toys, such as jet skis, kayaks and boats.
  • A volcano built on the yacht doesn’t gush out lava; it just creates a waterfall for the pool.
  • There is also an obligatory helicopter pad.
  • The yacht is environmentally-friendly and has 900 sq meters of photovoltaic panels that generate solar electricity during the day; which helps in saving up to 200 tons of diesel per year.

With a full range of entertainment options, this super yacht is an excellent charter yacht. It is definitely a thing to watch and buy, if you have pockets as deep as the sea.

Private Yacht as Tropical Island Paradise

' src=

So you already have your own private tropical island and giant-sized personal luxury yacht … how do you take things to the next level? Why, you combine the two into a portable slice of floating paradise, of course!

Floating tropical luxury liner

Somewhere between crazy and kitsch, this monster of the sea features its own miniature volcano, flowing waterfall, mountain stream, and valley pool flanked by a series of small bamboo huts and shelter-providing palm trees, all set upon (and concealing) a cruise-ship-style deck.

Floating rear excursion platform

For adults looking for a little more reality on their oceanic voyage, an extendable deck can be deployed belowdecks via a fold-down hatch in the hull; this opening revealing stairs leading to shelters, seating and other detachable smaller sea-faring vessels for short off-ship excursions.

Floating yacht concept sketches

“This view shows the guest cabanas nestled around the pool and highlights the two deck owners’ suites carved out of the front of the volcano and looking out across the bow. The interior features an owners suite located inside the volcano and spread over two decks. The living room balcony affords views out over the front of the yacht from behind the waterfall. Located behind the bedroom is the owners private spa.”

Floating dream boat ideas

But YI Designs is not quite done yet – they propose to build the ultra-rich vessels they have yet to dream of, if they have the wealth to afford them. Concepts include a remake of the streets of Monaco, a Chinese sailing ship and a kind of abstracted Taj Mahal on the water.

Insane? Perhaps, but if there is a market, who knows – these may actually be constructed some day. “‘The Streets of Monaco’ is our first design proposal. The theme is based around the Mediterranean principality with the primary focus being the famous grand prix circuit.”

Floating paradise island concept

“ The idea was to recreate the circuit as a fully functional kart track able to accommodate three karts side by side to allow for plenty of overtaking.  The Monaco story extends beyond this exterior architecture and into the interior spaces giving a seamless transition as guests move between the various areas of the yacht.”

The primary exterior deck is a private beach “cove” with a large swimming pool with an ocean view located forward and fed by a stream emanating from a cascading waterfall on the volcano located further aft. A number of private cabanas tucked between palm trees line the pool’s perimeter, offering a tranquil view of the pool and ocean beyond. Behind these cabanas are a bar, a communal seating area, and an outdoor dining area. The superyacht’s aft deck is a designated helicopter landing platform.

This Tropical Island Paradise megayacht is distinguished by its deployable floating beach islands, which provide a sea-level platform for water sports, sunning, and relaxation in one of the floating cabanas.

The luxury yacht can accommodate up to ten charter guests. The owner’s suite of the themed vessel Tropical Island Paradise is located inside the volcano and spans two decks. Its living room balcony provides views of the yacht’s bow from behind the waterfall. The owner’s private spa and balcony are located behind his or her bedroom.

Four VIP accommodations with private balconies and direct access to the main deck cabanas comprise the remaining cabins.

  • The Best Golf Clubs in…

In Russia, the western concept of building architecturally beautiful golf courses filled with modern and luxurious amenities has found fertile ground. What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.

The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. Some of them have made it to the list of Top 15 golf clubs in the world, a source of great prestige for the country.

The Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is 18 miles from the heart of Moscow, close to historical monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Designed by famed architects Paul and Dave Thomas , this 18-hole course is part of a complex that includes a yacht club, an equestrian center, and a health and wellness facility. Located in an ecologically pristine area on the banks of the Volga River, the Zavidovo Golf Club embodies the spirit and appearance of the legendary Scottish golf courses. Its many springs and streams, hills, forests, swamps and lakes justify its reputation as a very demanding circuit. Last year, it entered the exclusive club of the 15 best golf courses in the world.   ■

Walter Spies Biography

German-born artist Walter Spies (1895–1942), who spent much of his life in what is now Indonesia, was noted for a unique style that combined Western and Eastern elements, exploring spiritual motifs drawn from the artist's adopted culture while applying techniques of contemporary European art.

Spies was an energetic and influential traveler among multiple cultures whose talents extended far beyond painting. He performed both Western and Indonesian musical styles, co-wrote a pioneering study of dance on the island of Bali, and stimulated new developments in Balinese art. Scholars had studied Indonesian expressive culture before Spies arrived in the archipelago, but Spies spread the word about its beauties as he entertained celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin at his home on Bali. The ongoing Western fascination with Indonesian arts was partly the result of Spies's efforts.

Raised in Diplomatic Household

Walter Spies (VAHL-ter SCHPEEZ) was born in Moscow, Russia, on September 15, 1895. His father was a German diplomat. The Spies family was wealthy and well connected in their foreign home, and they were interested in the arts as well as in political affairs. Spies met the Russian composers Sergei Rachmaninoff and Alexander Scriabin as a child, and he began composing in contemporary styles when he was quite young. He also had a strong affinity for the natural world, collecting reptiles and amphibians that he would sometimes release at the family dinner table. When he was 15, Spies was sent to school in Dresden, Germany, but he returned to Russia on summer vacations, and he was there when World War I broke out in 1914.

Spies's father was arrested immediately, and when Spies reached military age in 1915 he too was arrested by Russian soldiers and sent to an internment camp at Sterliamak in the remote Ural Mountains. This experience was much less severe than might be assumed, however. Though unable to leave the remote village, Spies was not restricted to a prison; he worked for local farmers and lumbermen and learned their folktales and songs. "The significance of those years cannot be emphasized enough," wrote Spies's biographers, Hans Rhodius and John Darling. "Here, among the simple country folk of the Urals, Spies discovered his own identity." Spies was able to paint, and he turned away from the fashionably advanced styles he had seen in Dresden and toward simpler, down-to-earth themes.

As Russia became immersed in political change in 1917 and withdrew from the war, Spies was able to return to Moscow. Disguised as a peasant he rode trains as a hobo toward Germany and then sneaked across the battlefront, arriving once again in Dresden. There he worked for sculptor Hedwig Jaenischen Woermann in her studio and became acquainted with top German Expressionist artists Oskar Kokoschka and Otto Dix. The major influence on his style as an artist, however, was French: painter Henri Rousseau's large, stylized paintings of tropical wildlife and flora formed the point of departure for Spies's own work.

Spies mounted his first exhibition of paintings in 1919, making a living on the side as a ballroom dance teacher (he was an expert practitioner of the tango, a sensational new dance imported from Argentina). In 1920 he moved to Grunewald near Berlin in order to work for silent film director F. W. Murnau. In Berlin, Spies was exposed to new trends in German contemporary music and wrote more music of his own. Sometimes he escaped to the North Sea Island of Sylt for relaxation. Spies lived intermittently with a couple in the Netherlands, exhibiting his works at the Dutch Painters' Circle. Another decisive event in his career was a visit to the Koloniaal Institute, now the Tropenmuseum (Tropical Museum) in Amsterdam, where he saw artworks imported from the Netherlands' Indonesian colonies and connected them in his own mind with the natural themes and slightly surrealist constructions he had been cultivating ever since his internment in the Ural Mountains.

Made Living with Music

Obtaining passage to Indonesia by signing on with a freighter crew, Spies arrived in Bandung on the island of Java in October of 1923 and quickly got a job accompanying silent Chinese films on the piano. Moving on to the old Javanese capital city of Yogyakarta he entertained guests at the residence of the Dutch colonial administrator but was immediately fascinated by the magnificent gamelan, or traditional Indonesian orchestra of metallophones and gongs, at the kraton , or palace of the Sultan of Yogyakarta. His enthusiasm for the court music attracted the attention of the Sultan himself, who hired Spies as conductor of a small European orchestra he also maintained. Spies quickly mastered both the Javanese language and Malay, which served as a common language for Indonesia's thousands of islands and became the basis for the modern Indonesian language.

Spies learned to play all the gamelan instruments, and he began to experiment with fusions of Indonesian and European music. At one point he tuned two pianos in the Javanese tuning system and arranged a performance in which two Indonesian singers would perform first to the accompaniment of a gamelan, then to that of his two pianos, and then finally with the gamelan once again. The singers finished the performance without missing a beat. But Spies was still beset with doubts about the accuracy of his work in representing Javanese gamelan music, and he refused to allow his hybrid pieces to be published. They were lost for good after Spies's death when Japanese armies occupied Java.

Resuming his painting career, Spies exhibited some of his new works in 1925 at a group show in the eastern Javanese city of Surabaya. His complex new works showed the influence of his new surroundings and of Asian art more generally. Heimkehrende Javaner (Javanese Returning Home, 1924) showed a group of farmers returning home with their implements in the foreground of a many-layered mountain landscape. Determined to devote full time to his art and to penetrate deeper into the essence of Indonesian culture, Spies moved from Yogyakarta to the island of Bali in 1927. Among Indonesia's large islands, Bali had been the least affected by Dutch colonization and retained much of its traditional culture. Artistic activities were central to that culture although they were not designated with that name, since art and music for the Balinese were not special realms of life but rather activities that most people engaged in during moments of relaxation.

Building a Balinese-style house and studio (today a hotel) in the heavily traditional village of Ubud in 1928, Spies flourished. His paintings deepened, and some of them began to reflect the spiritual outlooks of the Balinese themselves. His Sawahlandschaft mit Gunung Agung (Rice Paddy Landscape with Gunung Mountain) incorporated the image of a volcano that plays a central role in the Balinese Hindu religion into a rich landscape of irrigated rice fields and jungle vegetation. The paintings from the period of Spies's residence in Bali are those on which his international reputation rests, and they helped forge an enduring impression of Bali as a tropical paradise. "In creating the image of Balinese idyll," noted Kadek Krishna Adidharma in the Jakarta Post , "the influence of German painter, photographer, and musician Walter Spies … is still visible and tangible today."

Founded Arts Society

With local Balinese nobleman Tjokorda Agung Sukawati, Spies founded the Pita Maha Arts Society (Pita Maha means "Great Forbears"), a group that aimed to encourage the efforts of local Balinese painters. The result was an explosion of creativity that was strong even by Balinese standards. Each Saturday, a four-person jury selected winners from among a group of about 150 submitted works. The winners were sold to international buyers, and the proceeds were plowed back into the collective. Spies's legacy lived on in a vigorous Balinese arts scene for several decades after his death; he also introduced European art to the Balinese, who experimented with such details as playful treatment of perspective and created hybrid forms of their own.

Spies did not neglect his interests in music, cinema, and dance. With dancer and photographer Beryl de Zoete he published Dance and Drama in Bali , for many years a standard work covering Bali's traditional large-scale theatrical presentations. One of the iconic images of Balinese culture in the eyes of many Western students is the ketjak dance, often known as the Ramayana Monkey Chant. The spectacular dance, often performed for tourists, involves a crowd of 100 or more dancers, emulating monkeys verbally and kinetically as they enact a battle scene from the Hindu Ramayana epic. Though based on traditional materials, the dance owed its modern form to Spies; working with Indonesian dancer Wayan Limbak (who died in 2003), he choreographed the monkey chant for the 1932 German film Island of Demons . Spies served as art director for the film, which exposed many Westerners to Balinese culture, although some scholars have criticized Spies for oversimplification of the Balinese legends involved in the story.

Campuan, Spies's Balinese home, became an established stop on the circuit of well-informed international travelers, and such well-known figures as Chaplin, anthropologist Margaret Mead, and Mexican artist and caricaturist Miguel Covarrubias passed through as guests. In the words of Rhodius and Darling, "Hundreds of Balinese artists called at 'the house of the meeting of the waters,' either just to pass the time of day, or to report on coming events such as dances or ceremonies in remote villages, to display the work of their hands or discuss the better tuning of an instrument." Spies also often served as a go-between who tried to insure smooth relationships between the local Balinese and Dutch colonial administrators.

His own relationships with those administrators, however, were troubled for various reasons, one of which may have been their jealousy over Spies's ability to get along with the Balinese. The most serious issue was what they saw as a libertine atmosphere in the Spies circle; Spies was gay, and that fact, combined with his German citizenship, helped to seal his doom as Germany menaced the rest of Europe in the late 1930s. The cultural atmosphere in Indonesia tightened, and Spies was arrested on charges of indecent behavior in December of 1938, serving a prison term that lasted until September of 1939. During this initial period of imprisonment he was visited by sympathetic Dutch authorities and allowed to paint and play music; some of his greatest final works, such as Palmendurchblick (View Through the Palms, 1938), showing a magnificent palace glimpsed from a great distance by a solitary figure carrying water, were painted while he was in prison.

When Germany invaded Holland soon after the outbreak of World War II, the few German citizens in the Dutch East Indies were arrested. Spies was held for 20 months in internment camps on Java and Sumatra. Even there he could occasionally paint and study musical scores sent to him by relatives. But early in 1942 he was put on a transport ship bound for Ceylon. A day after it left Sumatra, on January 19, 1942, the ship was hit off Nias Island by a Japanese bomb, and the Dutch crew abandoned ship without setting its German prisoners free. Spies drowned with the rest of the prisoners. Never prolific, he left a modest body of paintings that sometimes yielded prices of more than $1,000,000 in art auctions by the early 2000s.

Can the Bahamas Golden Knights Repeat in Moscow

Sun, jun 16th 2013, 06:44 pm.

Just about every Bahamian residing in The Bahamas as well as those around the world can remember that warm patriotic feeling on August 10th last year when The Bahamas men's 4x400m relay team of Chris Brown, Demetrius Pinder, Michael Mathieu, and Ramon Miller did the improbable, winning the Gold medal in the London Olympic Games.

The United States had not been defeated since the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki when four stellar runners from our neighbor Jamaica, Arthur Wint, Les Laing, Herb Mckenley, and George Rhoden set a new world record and made history.
