Ultra G is the "best Heesen yacht that’s ever been made"

“This is best Heesen yacht that’s ever been made,” the captain of Ultra G tells me as he shows me around the new 197-foot superyacht, built by Heesen . “There are nuggets on this boat that are way better than others – truly.”

He’s not wrong. Of all the superyachts I’ve seen up close, Ultra G is one of the most considered. Personality shines through in every element, from her dynamic red and black exterior to her abundance of bespoke features.

Ultra G has all the offerings of a modern superyacht – large windows, contemporary furnishings, elegant architecture – but what makes her stand out is her abundance of bespoke features. Every inch of the yacht and its potential use has been carefully thought-out, including where a pet dog can relieve itself. The answer? A special ‘grassy’ area on the deck just off the master cabin. This is a superyacht ‘first’ (to my knowledge) and works through the use of sensors and sprinklers – the dog to do its business without ruining the teak.

We explored the yacht from the top down, starting at the sun deck which is accessed via an impressive glass-topped stairway atrium (pictured above) that slides open at the touch of a button. The space is kitted out for parties with a bar, DJ area and powerful speakers. Like with everything else on the yacht, these aren’t just any speakers – they’re CAT speakers, priced at over 20,000 euros a pair, I’m told.

The captain points out the deck’s set up for a six-piece band or DJ. “The neat thing here is there are a few buttons in the ceiling and if you press a one, out comes six moving heads for the disco. We have lasers, smoke machines, fog machines, bubble machines and the foam cannon.” The foam, I’m promised, is teak friendly.

A custom wine fridge takes pride of place in the main saloon

Lower down, Ultra G continues to impress. The main saloon is kitted out with yet more speakers and DJ stations, plus a custom wine fridge with various temperature-controlled sections, a steam fireplace with wet rocks (the ‘smoke’ can change colour), a comfortable lounge, and an innovative entertainment solution.

“When you do a main saloon on a boat, you’re always stuck with the sofas facing the TV, when you want the sofa to face the outside. We solved that problem by creating a media room,” the captain says. The giant ‘Wall’ by Samsung can be used as one huge TV screen or split to display multiple things concurrently, including movies and real-time views captured by a 180-degree camera on the bow or the yacht’s four ‘fish finders’. The room also has a poker table, karaoke machines and various games consoles.

On the aft, an array of rod holders unveils another hint of the owner’s personality. “We’re totally geared up for fishing,” the captain says, pointing out an in-built flushing system, flash freezers and live wells for bate. There’s also a fisherman’s lounge, where guests can relax and watch real-time footage from the fish finders. It now made sense why the shipyard dubbed Ultra G a “sport fisherman in yacht disguise”.

For any down time, there’s a naturally high-tech spa and beach club, with a snow room, sauna featuring a beautifully backlit stone, and rain showers.

Ultra G has four guest suites (two double and two twin staterooms) and one owner’s suite on a private deck. The owner’s suite stretches across the full beam and features bespoke artworks – a giant whale’s tale greets you at the entrance– plus a walk-in wardrobe and a sizeable bathroom with an oval, standalone bath. The yachts also sleeps 14 crew.

It’s also worth noting that Ultra G is supremely powerful. “We’ve got the most horsepower of any Heesen yacht ever built,” the captain says, pointing to her 22,000 horsepower and 37-knot top speed.

Ultra G was built at the Heesen shipyard in Oss, where her build codename was Project Skyfall. In July, she completed her first sea trials ahead of delivery this year. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that maiden voyage…

60m superyacht ULTRA G marks Heesen’s first yacht launch for 2023

Representing the newest addition to the prestigious Heesen fleet , the 60m (196ft) superyacht ULTRA G , previously known as Project Skyfall , hit the water during a ceremony which took place on January 27 from their Oss facilities in the Netherland's, marking the yard's first superyacht launch for 2023. 

Described by Heesen as the “ultimate expression of the knowledge and experience gained in over forty years of shipbuilding to the finest Dutch quality standards”, the all-aluminum yacht marks a long-standing collaboration between designers, with Omega Architects providing her unique exterior lines, while her engineering and Fast Displacement Hull Form comes courtesy of Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Meanwhile, London-based studio Harrison Eidsgaard is responsible for her chic interior styling.

The superyacht has been custom-built and designed for a fishing enthusiast. Described by the yard as a “sport fisherman in yacht disguise”, yacht ULTRA G features a fully operable fish cockpit complete with a fighting chair and storage for 40 rods.

Superyacht luxury

When not reeling in big fishing game, the yacht has been primed for entertainment and relaxation, and bestowed with a wealth of amenities, including a media room featuring a vast 146-inch media wall, games area and custom wine fridge in her main salon, as well as an infinity pool on her sundeck.

She even flaunts her status as a dog-friendly yacht, equipped with a dedicated self-flushing “relief area” with synthetic grass, sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

Outstanding performance capabilities

Motor yacht ULTRA G also boasts exceptional power under the bonnet, with her 22,000 horsepower being generated by quad MTU 20V 4000 engines and four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, which help lower the yacht's draft to less than three meters and reduce vibration by 40 per cent compared with traditional shafts and propellers, for a smoother onboard experience. Under light load conditions, she is capable of delivering an impressive top speed of 37 knots.

She will be accompanied by a 24-meter custom built Vanquish tender, which has been designed in the mirror image of its mothership. 

She will provide accommodation for 10 guests across five suites, including a master apartment positioned to offer complete privacy on her bridge deck, featuring a walk-in closet, large en suite with central oval tub and an intimate terrace with a Jacuzzi and inviting lounge area. Her remaining four cabins are found on her lower deck.

She is now ready for commissioning and will undergo rigorous testing in the North Sea, with delivery expected in the coming months following the successful completion of sea trials. It is not expected that superyacht ULTRA G will be available for charter once she’s delivered to her owner.

Ultra G, Heesen’s New Superyacht With A Motorized Rescue Buoy

Heesen’s Ultra G was delivered to its owners on 29 March 2024, and is a pretty powerful superyacht with an innovative new rescue buoy. Read on for more details!

What’s This Rescue Buoy?

If anyone goes overboard, this rescue buoy (designed by U Safe) can cruise to that person up to 1,640 feet away. This is opposed to bobbing on the water like a traditional life ring does!

Some details about it…

• powered by twin water jets
• weighs about 30 pounds
• top speed of roughly 9 mph (8 nautical miles)
• can transport up to 2 individuals

Also, it is able to be actively steered by remote control. This means that crew is able to use it quickly, and the individual overboard doesn’t need to swim to reach help.

Ultra G’s Interior & Exterior

Frank Laupman’s Omega Architects handled the exterior design.

Ultra G ‘s has an array of interesting features:

• waterjet propulsion (this drives the draft to less than 3m and also aids in reducing vibrations)
• lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form. This comes with gyro stabilisers, course fins, and interceptor trim plates
• engines are compliant with IMO Tier III regulations
• a custom tender built by Vanquish to a design by Guido de Groot to mirror the mothership “down to the last brushstroke”
• dog-friendly features including a “relief area” (this was included in the plans when she was initially commissioned)

The 918GT interior includes space for ten guests in four cabins on the lower deck. Reserved for the owner’s accommodation, the bridge deck includes large aft-facing cabins which open onto a private terrace – with a Jacuzzi and relaxation area.

Entertaining is an integral aspect of Ultra G ‘s design. There is:

• games table on the main deck forward
• a sundeck with an infinity pool facing aft
• a custom wine fridge in the main saloon
• large media room with the latest audio-visual equipment

Heesen Yachts’ Project SkyFall Superyacht Named MY Ultra G

Simon Wittenberg takes a closer look at the 60-metre Project SkyFall Superyacht, MY Ultra G, the Dutch shipyard’s first launch of 2023.

The new year has started at full throttle for Heesen Yachts in Oss, with the opening weeks of 2023 seeing the launch of Project SkyFall, an all-aluminium, 60-metre superyacht – just 10 metres shorter than Heesen’s Galactica Super Nova .

In build since October 2020, the vessel has been christened MY Ultra G by its new owner, and will be followed by other unveilings by The Netherlands-based shipyard throughout the coming months.

The black and red exterior of the 918 gross-tonne (GT) superyacht has been styled by Frank Laupman at the UK-based Omega Architects, and draws inspiration from two luxury Heesen sportfishing yachts in the 1990s, namely the 38-metre MY Obsessions (from 1996), which was the largest sportfishing yacht of its time, until the baton was passed to the 39-metre MY Red Sapphire a year later.

MY Ultra G is capable of accommodating ten guests and 13 crew, and its luxurious interior, designed by the London-based studio Harrison Eidsgaard, features a master apartment complete with a jacuzzi, a large walk-in wardrobe, plus a large bathroom housing a central oval bath and separate shower.

The art of entertaining guests lies at the heart of the functionality of all social areas, both inside and out. For example, a custom-made wine cooler, with discrete sections at different temperatures takes pride of place in the main saloon.

The high-tech media room is home to Samsung’s new Wall TV, measuring nearly two metres by eight metres, and the elegant games table on the main deck forward, is undoubtedly the pièce de résistance. The sundeck, with its infinity pool facing aft, is the perfect setting for hosting receptions and musical entertainment.

For those who like to travel with their pets, four-legged friends are also treated to a luxurious experience, thanks to a series of carefully thought-out details to make their life at sea as safe and as stress-free as possible. These include the ‘relief area’, a self-flushing area of the side deck finished in synthetic grass, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

MY Ultra G is powered by four MTU 20V 4000 engines, driving four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, and delivering a staggering 22,000 horsepower. The outer powerplants, compliant with the latest Tier III environmental regulations, drive steerable jets, whilst the centre engines operate fixed booster units. With less back-pressure and a slightly higher power output, the centre engines are activated solely for the highest speeds.

Thanks to its lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), complete with course fins, gyro stabilisers and interceptor trim plates, MY Ultra G is able to reach an extraordinary top speed of 37 knots (42 mph) in light load conditions.

The hull has also been shaped to provide a much smoother and flatter ride, when compared to a conventional semi-displacement profile. In addition, three gyro-stabilisers will keep the yacht stable at low speeds.

Before MY Ultra G is handed over to its new owner, Heesen Yachts is now undertaking system commissioning testing prior to the superyacht departing the shipyard in Oss for intensive trials in the North Sea.

Heesen Yachts has launched its first superyacht of 2023, the 60-metre full-custom Ultra G, previously known under her build name as Project Skyfall. The yacht’s launch ceremony took place on 27 January.

The Dutch shipyard has described Ultra G as the “ultimate expression of the knowledge and experience gained in over forty years of shipbuilding to the finest Dutch quality standards.” She’s a true work of collaboration, with Omega Architects taking charge of her exterior styling, Van Oossanen Naval Architects her engineering and Harrison Eidsgaard her interior spaces.

The 60-metre superyacht has been built and designed for a fishing enthusiast. She’s incredibly fast, thanks to quad MTU 20V 4000 engines and four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, which deliver a top speed of 37 knots, and brimming with amenities.

“Skyfall exudes power and speed in every single detail,” Frank Laupman of Omega Architects previously told SuperYacht Times. “She’ll be the most powerful, diesel-driven yacht (no turbines, just jets) to be built in the Netherlands, to date. Her aggressive paint scheme serves to further highlight these characteristics. We started the process with a normal yacht, which had to be unique, in terms of design and technical properties. But as we designed her for a keen angler, we altered her to meet the owner’s needs, to include a fully operable fish cockpit.”

Ultra G has an abundance of entertainment onboard, with a media room, games area and an infinity pool on the sun deck. Her owner will undoubtedly spend most of their time on the aft deck, making use of the fighting cockpit fishing for big game.

Heesen opted for aluminium for both her hull and superstructure, and Ultra G benefits from Van Oossanen’s patented Fast Displacement Hull Form. Ultra G offers accommodation for as many as 10 guests and 13 crew. Her master apartment is located on the bridge deck and features a Jacuzzi, large walk-in wardrobe and a generous bathroom with a central oval bath and separate shower stall. Ultra G also has a dedicated ‘relief area’ for canine guests – a self-flushing area of the side deck finished in synthetic grass, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

The superyacht Ultra G is currently undergoing system commissioning testing before leaving Oss for intensive trials in the North Sea.

Sparta ontmoet Salvinia

De Salvinia is een rijncruiseschip van Feenstra, dat zojuist de haven van Hellevoetsluis verliet. Met haar drie dekken en ruimte voor 124 passagiers viel het schip enigszins in het niet bij het full custom superjacht Sparta, dat zij in het zicht van de haven ontmoette.

Dit jacht is met 67 meter lengte het grootste stalen jacht dat Heesen tot nu toe heeft gebouwd. Er zijn 14 bemanningsleden aan boord die maximaal 12 gasten kunnen bedienen. De Sparta legde na de ontmoeting aan pal voor de Ultra G, eveneens een superjacht.

Ook dit schip is gebouwd door Heesen, is 60 meter lang, en wordt omschreven als een “sport fisherman in yacht disguise”, met een speciale bergruimte voor wel veertig complete visuitrustingen en een zogenaamde fighting chair, om het gevecht aan te gaan met grote vissen.
