Epping Forest Yacht Club Wedding // Catherine + Jeff
Catherine & Jeff. I would describe Catherine as honest and full of life type of girl. Jeff is more serious and so loving. Both are laid back and their family means everything to them. My jaw dropped when I first saw Epping Forest Yacht and Country Club . It’s is a beautiful Jacksonville waterfront wedding venue. In my opinion it has a similar vibe to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami . I’m so grateful for this super kind couple and their families that allowed me to run around and capture their amazingness.

Jacksonville, Florida 32217
Serving Northeast Florida
As one of Jacksonville’s properties on the National Register of Historic Places, Epping Forest Yacht Club has evolved from an historic estate into one of the most exquisite yacht clubs in the South. The original luxurious riverfront Mansion, built in late 1926, was home to industrialist Alfred I. duPont and his wife, Jessie Ball duPont. In 1984, Gate Petroleum Company purchased the property restoring its original splendor. Capable of hosting large corporate events such as Pepsi’s Rookie of Year event during Super Bowl XXXIX, this 15,000 – square-foot estate property boasts several venues for special events.
Throughout the years, Epping Forest has seen many distinguished guests including the Vanderbilts, Carnegies, Presidents, world leaders and celebrities. The views of the lush formal English gardens, the scenic St. Johns River, award-winning cuisine, and service continue to make Epping Forest Yacht Club one of the most sought-after locations for private parties, corporate functions, and weddings.
Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club is a full-service club providing all of your food and beverage needs. Our culinary team will create and prepare all food for your event. Our event coordinators can provide brides-to-be with effortless planning of all wedding day details.
The mansion’s beautifully appointed dining rooms create the perfect environment for the most elegant wedding celebration. Many of Jacksonville’s most tasteful wedding ceremonies and receptions have taken place in the lush formal English gardens overlooking the scenic St. Johns River. The variety of settings within the Mansion can accommodate small, intimate groups for bridal showers or large, grand events of any size.
It is always our pleasure to take the stress out of planning and make each wedding at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club as individual and special as the couple itself.

Christina & Wilson | Sneak Peek
November 17, 2018 at epping forest yacht club.
Christina and Wilson met when she moved to Alabama to work for Southern Living magazine in 2013, while Wilson lived in Alabama his whole life. They were introduced by their best friends who are married to one another, however, their romance did not begin until 2016. Will popped the question when visiting Ponte Vedra, where Christina is from. On their first night there, the two went for a walk on the beach where he got down on one knee. It was just the two of them on the beach, but they celebrated with all of Christina’s family in town.
Their Catholic wedding ceremony took place at Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Jacksonville. It was where Christina grew up and the church she always dreamed about getting married. There was a gorgeous sunset reception to follow at Epping Forrest Yacht Club. The band, I Love this Band, from Atlanta was amazing and kept the party going all night! Another special aspect to the night was their first dance to Leon Bridges, the first concert Christina and Wilson attended together as a couple. The morning after their big day, the newly married couple departed for France to celebrate! Paris, Provence, and Nice are the perfect places to eat, drink and begin their married life together.

We started out the day as wedding photographers and newlyweds and ended the night as friends. These two found the perfect balance of romance and fun during their wedding day. Would you believe us if we said there was a silent disco at their reception? It was an absolute honor to capture Mackenzie and Andrew’s love as they said their vows and danced the night away!
REVIEW FROM THE BRIDE:
“Joel and Sammy are absolutely incredible! From the first time I talked to them, I knew my photographer search was over and I had to have them for our wedding! Even though we didn’t meet them in person until the day of our wedding, it felt like we had been friends forever! They have the most comforting, cool, and fun presence and will show you any poses they want (they’ll even pose together to show you, which is so cute and gives you a feel for how you’ll look.) When we got our pictures back 2-3 weeks later we were in awe!! They are stunning! They captured some of the most special moments in ways we never expected and their style is so timeless and classic. We know our photos will never go “out of style” and we will cherish them forever. We were also blown away at the number of guests they captured at our reception and the quality of the reception pictures. The day goes by so fast and it has been very special to look back and see all our family and friends around us. Joel and Sammy are everything you want in wedding photographers and I can’t recommend them enough!”

Epping Forest Yacht Club Wedding
When you’ve got a bride who works in the fashion industry as a designer, you can bet your bottom dollar you’re about to see one stylish wedding. Bride Dana did not disappoint in a custom Inbal Dror gown, surrounded by wildflowers and dried arrangements from Foxy Posh Events , and captured by Christina Block Photography . Let’s learn more about this beautiful couple, shall we?
From the bride, Dana: We actually met 10 years ago when I was in college. I was 20 and he was 29. He grew up with my sister’s husband; they’ve actually been best friends since high school. We tried dating then but the age gap was a little too much. Fast-forward 10 years, my mom started asking my sister and brother-in-law, “Whatever happened to your friend Jason?” This went on for almost 9 months until my brother-in-law finally agreed to try and set us up one more time! We spoke for the first time that November and were married 8 months later. To us, marriage was a choice, a conscious choice that we were making to give each other our lives and no longer be one, but two. Neither of us needed each other; we wanted each other. To us, that meant sacrifice, commitment, a whole lot of love and friends forever. Our wedding took place at the duPont Mansion in Jacksonville, Florida at Epping Forest Yacht Club. The home was built in 1926 and has been preserved with all of its original architecture and furnishings inside and gardens kept behind the house. We were married in the gardens and held the reception inside the duPont’s original dining room space.
Our theme for the wedding was simplicity at its best. We wanted all of the flowers, table decorations, even bridesmaid and grooms attire to be original and something that felt unique and effortless. Most of the flowers were picked from a garden or found in open fields, the tables were filled with old glass bottles that me and my mother and florist gathered. We used my great grandmothers journals to make paper cones that held the petals to throw as we were leaving. All of my bridesmaid dresses were original pieces I had collected over the years during my travels to London, Italy, Hong Kong and various parts of Asia. Each part of the wedding was simple but held special memories to both of us. Living in NYC, every day you are inspired by the city, the people, the energy, etc. I also work in the industry as a designer so there was almost too much inspiration! At some point, I had to stop myself and just go with the first decision I had made. Each of my bridesmaids received handbags I designed. Depending on the girl, I gave either totes or minaudieres. All of the groomsmen were gifted their ties for the wedding. We wanted to be sure the gifts were practical and would actually be used again. Wedding favors for guests were a pair of old school Ray-Ban shades. We figured since the wedding was outside, in Florida, in the month of July, the least we could do to help them keep cool was provide shades! We used a variety of raw materials including wooden chairs, overgrown vines to line the aisle and the gardens natural elements to create the space for the ceremony. The reception took place inside the duPont mansion where most of the original pieces of furniture were kept. These, combined with clusters of vintage glass bottles holding various wildflowers and candles, set the mood for the reception. We used my grandmother’s china from the 60’s with a vintage floral pattern as our flatware.

I love the subtle, earthy textures and colours in this wedding shoot …very evocative…and the dress really is beautiful and very fairytale like especially when viewed from the back. What was the thinking behind the bouquets in front of the faces in the opening shot? It reminds me of something…
Love her whole ensemble, the headpiece is simple and elegant much like this entire wedding!
