OPERA was first spotted in May 2021 when she transported to the yard's Bremen outfitting facilities in Germany.

German shipyard Lürssen has successfully launched the 146m/479ft luxury mega yacht PROJECT OPERA from its facilities in Bremen. She was captured by avid yacht spotter and photographer DrDuu.

M/Y PROJECT OPERA is believed to be the replacement yacht for the same-sized mega yacht PROJECT SASSI, which was destroyed by a fire at the shipyard in 2018. Europe’s largest floating dock (290m/951.5ft long, 53m/174ft wide and 51m/167ft tall) was employed to bring PROJECT OPERA to the Bremen facilities back in May 2021.

PROJECT OPERA is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with naval architecture from the shipyard. She has a 20m/65.7ft beam and comes in at 11999 GT.

Few details have been revealed in regard to the styling and amenities aboard the luxury yacht PROJECT OPERA, however, exterior shots reveal a foredeck helipad and a second one on the sundeck aft, a Jacuzzi and sunbeds forward and a cavernous beach club attached to a generous lower deck swim platform. Two stairways sweep up to the main deck two floors above and a swimming pool behind the observation area along the stern.

M/Y PROJECT OPERA is one of four mega yachts currently under construction at Lürssen, the others being 145m/475.8ft luxury yacht LUMINANCE due for launch later in 2022, 122m/400ft JAG in 2023 and 137m/449.5ft ALIBABA in 2024.

Sea trials are expected shortly for PROJECT OPERA, with delivery taking place before the end of 2022.

Concert promoter Live Nation is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business — see what it'll be like on weeklong superyacht sailings starting at $3,000 a person

• Live Nation's Vibee is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business.
• The music event curator says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia cruises this summer.
• Like other vacation operators, Vibee says it's seen increasing demand for cruise and yacht-based trips.

Forget concerts — Live Nation wants music fans to start going on yacht vacations .

In 2023 and amid a boom in experiential travel , the entertainment company established Vibee, a music-based event curation arm. Less than a year later, Vibee has already executed affairs like a weekend Bahamas getaway headlined by singer Lionel Richie and a three-day Cabo San Lucas, Mexico party featuring DJ Tiësto.

Now, it's moving off-land and to the high seas with its new segment: Vibee Yacht Club.

This summer, Vibee says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia itineraries that are set to be, of course, centered on music.

Vibee is capitalizing on yet another increasingly popular concept: themed cruises.

Themed cruises can vary vastly, from Star Trek-centered sailings to itineraries helmed by famous comedians. And as of late, many of these niche voyages have been selling out faster than ever before.

Themed cruise operator Sixthman's November 2023 hip-hop itinerary sold out in less than five days with no publicly announced lineup.

Similarly, Vibee's first cruise, the 2023 EDSea — a wordplay on the electronic dance music festival Electric Daisy Carnival, or EDC — was fully booked in three days, again with an undisclosed lineup.

Armed with EDSea’s success, Vibee wants to dive deeper into the cruise segment — this time with a luxurious spin.

"We see the desire for cruise and yacht experiences continuing to rise," Harvey Cohen, president of Vibee, told Business Insider, echoing sentiments of the cruise industry's booming demand.

And not just the mass-market players: Over the last year, luxury cruise lines have also seen a rise in interest.

In its fourth-quarter earnings report from February 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said its two high-end brands, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas, had both seen "strong demand."

The latter had launched its latest $517.9 million luxury ship a few months prior, complete with caviar and a $6 million art collection.

Luxury cruises and superyachts aren’t known to be super-affordable.

Vibee says it's chartering the 141-foot-long Lupus Mare and nearly 161-foot-long Prestige for its three yacht sailings.

Vibee Yacht Club's cheapest option starts at $3,100 per person for a two-person cabin. Comparatively, EDSea's 2024 itinerary starts at $1,405 per person for a double occupancy interior cabin.

Yet, it could be a bargain for some superyacht fans: Weeklong charters for Lupus Mare start at about $71,000 a week, according to YachtCharterFleet.

Everything is better on a yacht. Champagne? Tastes better on a yacht. Cruises in general? Better on a yacht.

Going to an international music festival? Well, Vibee thinks it would be better to stay on a yacht than in a hotel.

On July 13, the first itinerary would start on day two of Ultra Europe, a popular three-day electronic dance music festival in Split, Croatia.

Following the event, the two yachts would sail to three Croatian islands before concluding in Hvar, Croatia. Along the way, the itinerary would include daytime swims, a sunset winery visit, and several parties (day and night).

Unsurprisingly, Vibee expects the itinerary to draw in younger travelers, specifically Gen Zers and millennials.

Lupus Mare is set to be chartered for two more itineraries: “Rock the Med” and “Marafiki on the Adriatic.”

A three-person cabin for both starts at $3,500 per person.

On Rock the Med, the week is set to begin with VIP tickets to a Lenny Kravitz show at the historic Pula Arena.

Afterward, it would sail to Croatian destinations with an itinerary that would include beach excursions and clubs.

Marafiki on the Adriatic isn’t centered on a single music event.

Instead, the roundtrip Split itinerary would feature on-board musical performances, daily yoga, "cultural outings," and, of course, beach clubs.

A bonus trip to Sonus Festival, a five-day rave, is an optional add-on.

Like a typical luxury cruise, travelers would have preorganized water taxis, chefs to prepare daily breakfasts and lunches, and all the yacht amenities.

The 20-cabin, 40-guest Prestige flexes indulgences like an indoor lounge, a hot tub, and a sundeck with plenty of beds.

Meanwhile, the 15-cabin, 34-guest Lupus Mare has comforts like a sauna and gym.

Travelers could wind down in the yacht's movie theater or hot tub. Or, they could take a slide into the water.

It’s no surprise Vibee is going the more sumptuous route with its itinerary-focused yacht concept.

" Revenge travel " might as well be known as "regular travel" at this point: People have continued to spend big on extravagant vacations, especially on luxury small cruise ships and trips planned around experiences and adventures.

Both are niches Vibee is trying to carve out for itself: Looking ahead, the new brand is already planning more music and sea-based vacations, Cohen told Business Insider.

Dmitry Korchak (born February 19, 1979 in Elektrostal/Moscow Oblast) is a Russian tenor and conductor.

Korchak received his musical education at the Moscow Choral Academy. In 2004 he won prizes at the “Francisco Viñas” International Singing Competition in Barcelona and at the Plácido Domingo Operalia International Competition in Los Angeles.

As a singer he has appeared at La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, the Paris Opera Bastille, London’s Covent Garden and New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has collaborated with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Plácido Domingo, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano.

From 2017 to 2020, Dmitry Korchak was Principal Guest Conductor at the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, where he directed his own festival, and Guest Conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in Saint Petersburg.

Korchak has made several guest appearances at the Kissinger Sommer, the Salzburg Festival and the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, where he also worked as a conductor. Korchak also worked with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Care home developer investigated over yacht and supercar spending spree

Three arrested as Serious Fraud Office launches probe into alleged £76m fraud

Three people have been arrested as part of an investigation into a £76m luxury care home scandal that saw investor cash spent on supercars, yachts and a private jet.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) on Tuesday announced a new investigation into property developer Carlauren Group, which collapsed into administration in 2019.

Carlauren raised £76m from private investors who were told they would receive an annual return of 10pc for investing in luxury care home projects. The developer said it would buy properties and convert them into five star old people’s homes.

However, the SFO claims Carlauren instead used much of the funds to buy luxury vehicles, including two Lamborghinis, a McLaren 570GT and a private jet.

Sean Murray, Carlauren’s founder, was found by administrators to have paid for a private jet, yacht and luxury homes that were not integral to the business. The business owned a Hawker XS800 jet with the tail number M-URRY.

Mr Murray was banned from being a company director for 10 years in December 2022 for his conduct in relation to Carlauren Group.

Robert Clarke, chief investigator for the Insolvency Service, said at the time Mr Murray had “rightfully been removed from the corporate arena for a significant amount of time”.

Before its collapse, Carlauren bought 23 properties – mainly hotels – that it planned to renovate into high-end care homes featuring swimming pools, 24-hour room service, a la carte dining and a Bentley concierge car.

However, the SFO said that only nine of these properties were ever operational and some properties continued to operate as hotels rather than care homes.

Abandoned projects included a planned conversion of Windlestone Hall in Durham, once home to Conservative prime minister Sir Anthony Eden.

The Carlauren Group’s collapse in 2019 left 600 investors with losses and forced some elderly residents to vacate their homes.

Insolvency experts at Duff & Phelps and Quantuma were later appointed to investigate and locate £50m of funds missing from the property developer’s accounts. The business had only around £6,000 of cash in the bank at the time of its collapse.

Administrators won a freezing order on £40m of Mr Murray’s assets in 2020, preventing him from selling any of his possessions. The 58-year-old subsequently declared bankruptcy.

Mr Murray has denied wrongdoing and said he “lost control” of the business. He has claimed the luxury assets bought as part of an exclusive membership programme.

A BBC investigation in 2020 linked Mr Murray to an investment scheme where Britons were invited to buy homes in Detroit for a rental income. However, many of the properties were in fact derelict. Speaking to the BBC, Mr Murray denied people were scammed and claimed he had limited involvement in the project.

As part of the SFO’s investigation, the anti-fraud agency raided two sites in St Leonard’s, Dorset and Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire with the help of the National Crime Agency.

The investigation into the failed Somerset-based business is the fifth new inquiry launched by Nick Ephgrave since becoming the SFO’s director last September.

He said: “This company’s abrupt collapse has created turmoil and enormous anxiety for many, with elderly people forced to vacate their homes and investors left with nothing.

“Today’s arrests are a major development in our investigation and a step towards getting the answers so many people need.”

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
