With its mild climate, diverse landscapes, and rich history, Lake Garda offers an unforgettable experience for anyone looking to rent a boat and explore its beauty from the water. The lake's steady winds, known as "Ora" and "Pelér," create ideal conditions for sailing and make it a popular destination for regattas and sailing events. The sheltered waters and manageable currents ensure a pleasant and safe sailing experience, even for beginners. Sailing on the lake provides awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and charming towns along the shoreline. You can discover hidden coves, secluded beaches, and ancient castles inaccessible by land. Sailing on Lake Garda also opens up a world of water activities, such as swimming, snorkelling, and even water sports like windsurfing and wakeboarding. Whether seeking relaxation or adventure, a Lake Garda boat rental allows you to tailor your experience according to your preferences.
How much does it cost to rent a boat on Lake Garda?
The cost of a yacht charter in Lake Garda can vary depending on the season and the ship you want. The season you embark, the type and size of the boat and the number of guests will impact the final cost. Including a skipper and crewed yacht will usually increase the cost of your boat hire. Take a look at some of our boat prices below:
Our prices for motorboat rentals begin at €2,320/day in the low and high seasons.
Our prices for Gulet rentals begin at €1,300/day and €10,000/week in the low and high season.
What is included in the cost?
The cost of a Lake Garda yacht charter typically includes the rental fee for the boat itself. However, clarifying other inclusions and potential extra expenses with the boat owner is essential. Common inclusions are the boat's standard equipment, safety gear, and VAT. The initial rental cost may not include items such as fuel, skipper or crew, water sports equipment, and cleaning fees. Discuss these details with the boat owner to avoid surprises during your trip.
Which is the perfect boat type for me?
Choosing the perfect vessel for your boat rental in Lake Garda can be tricky, so we're here to help! If you want to spend a short time on the water, RIBs, motorboats and Jet Skis are perfect for a day trip. For longer journeys, boats such as catamarans and yachts are excellent options as they are more spacious. A sailboat is a boat for you if you want a typical sailing experience, but they do require some previous experience!
Take a look at the capacity of the boats in our fleet below:
Our motorboats can accommodate up to 50 guests.
Our gulets can accommodate up to 10 guests.
Charter a yacht in Lake Garda with or without a skipper?
Renting a boat with a skipper in Lake Garda can enhance your sailing experience significantly. A skipper is not only a knowledgeable guide but also ensures the safety and smooth navigation of the boat. With a skipper onboard, you can fully relax and enjoy the breathtaking views without worrying about handling the boat. Additionally, a local skipper is well-versed in Lake Garda's best destinations, hidden gems, and historical landmarks. They can take you to the most picturesque spots and help you maximise your sailing trip.
If you have sailing experience and the required licenses, you can rent a boat without a skipper in Lake Garda. However, remember that the boat owner might require proof of competency to ensure safety on the water. It's important to consider your sailing abilities and familiarity with the lake's conditions before opting for a skipper-less rental. Lake Garda's reliable winds and manageable currents make it an attractive destination for experienced sailors.

Riva Charter
Enjoying on the water in style
A lovely day, sailing a Riva Aquarama on the Italian Lake Garda. A wonderful experience you’ll never forget.
A DREAM COMES TRUE
Experience a wonderful day sailing a legendary riva aquarama on the italian lake garda.
Nothing sails better and is more beautiful than the mythical Riva Aquarama; the classic Italian mahogany wooden runabout from the 60s and 70s. During this period, Riva’s boats became a true legend all over the world, an object of desire and an expression of dreams. Nothing could meet the extraordinary quality, style and prestige of Riva. And none of that has changed over the years. A Riva is still a true eye-catcher and crowds of people gather wherever a Riva moors.
There isn’t a place this jewel of mahogany and chrome is more in its element than on the magnificent Italian Lake Garda! Let yourself be taken along the varied banks of the lake and its picturesque towns, which exude the atmosphere of times long past. Your skipper knows the most beautiful parts of the lake, the nicest places to moor and the finest restaurants for a appetizing lunch or dinner. Or what about sunbathing on the quarter-deck or a refreshing dip in the cool water of a quiet bay? It is all possible, because this will be your epic day!
A dream comes true. And yes, of course you also take a seat behind the steering wheel and the throttles and get yourself lined-up with the international jet set of yesteryear, with glories celebrities like Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Dinode Laurentis, Richard Burton, Sean Connery, Peter Sellers, the Shah of Persia, Prince Rainier of Monaco and King Hussein of Jordan, which all preceded you in this.

Explore historical Lake Garda
Lake Garda is surrounded by picturesque little towns full of history and historical sites. The Scaliger Castle of Malcesine dates back to Medieval times and is a popular tourist attraction. While the castle itself is already impressive, the mountain views you get to see from the top of the castle are even more impressive.
The Scaliger Castle of Sirmione is another magnificent castle dating back to the Middle Ages. It is actually one of the best preserved Medieval castles you can find. So interesting to see how the nobility used to live back in the day.
Sailing conditions in Lake Garda
Lake Garda is blessed with a Mediterranean climate, but also with winds that make for optimal sailing conditions. The mornings are generally dominated by winds going north. This means that you could start sailing at sunrise and use the southern winds blowing north. There is definitely a reason why Lake Garda is the location of so many regattas throughout the year. You can definitely vacation here all year round, but the weather is certainly more pleasant in the summer. However, keep in mind that the summer months and the times when the big regattas are taking place, are also the busiest times of the year.
How much does it cost to rent a boat in Lake Garda?
Lake Garda is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy. It becomes especially crowded during the summer months and prices to rent a boat in Lake Garda will increase during this time of the year.
What type of boat is best for sailing in Lake Garda?
You should choose the type of boat you want to rent in Lake Garda carefully, as this will determine what you can do while on your boat trip on Lake Garda . Sailboats are popular amongst international and local tourists alike as the wind conditions are ideal, but motorboats are just as good to rent in Navene or Moniga del Garda .
Rent a motorboat in Lake Garda
Pros of renting a motorboat in Lake Garda
Rent a motorboat in Lake Garda if you want to explore all the beautiful beaches and hidden bays Lake Garda has to offer. Motorboats have a shallow draft, making them perfect for exploring the area.
A motorboat rental in Lake Garda gives you the advantage of getting faster from one place to the other, making them the perfect boats to explore as many beaches and cities as you can visit in a short period of time.
Cons of renting a motorboat in Lake Garda
One of the downsides of a motorboat charter in Lake Garda is the fact that motorboats solely run on fuel. This makes them much more expensive than other types of boats. You might even be surprised by a hefty additional bill for all the extra fuel you’re using on your boat trip around the lake.
Motorboat hire in Lake Garda
Luxury boat holidays in Lake Garda
Charter a luxury yacht in Lake Garda if you want to go all out and enjoy all the amenities on board a yacht you can dream of. Most luxury yacht charters come with a full crew, including a captain who is taking care of navigating and operating your boat as well as staff that is going to take care of your every need. Stocked with basics like a fridge, freezer, stove and coffee maker, you will never go to bed hungry. You can store your food and prepare it on board.
What kind of boat licence do you need when renting a boat in Lake Garda?
Anyone who wants to rent a boat in Lake Garda and Italy in general needs to be in possession of a valid boat licence. If you decide to charter a motorboat with less than 40 hp, you don’t need to carry a valid boat licence.
Your EU boat licence is automatically valid in Italy. If you come from outside of the EU, you might not be so lucky if your licence doesn’t fulfill the requirements of an Italian boat licence. Your safest bet would be the International Certificate of Competency or short ICC .
If you don’t have a boat licence or simply don’t want to drive your boat hire in Lake Garda yourself, you can always hire a skipper in addition to your bareboat charter.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital
There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.
How to find the right boat?
There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.
Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.
This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.
Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).
If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
How to buy tickets?
Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.
“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.
Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.
Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.
Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.
Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.
This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.
Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.
“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.
There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.
Where to sit onboard?
Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.
The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.
Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.
There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Early history (1147-1283) The first reference to Moscow dates from 1147 as a meeting place of Sviatoslav Olgovich and Yuri Dolgorukiy. At the time it was a minor town on the western border of Vladimir-Suzdal Principality. In 1156, Kniaz Yury Dolgoruky fortified the town with a timber fence and a moat.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
