The Phuket Yacht Club (previously Ao Chalong Yacht Club), set at the edge of Ao Chalong along Phuket’s southeast coast, is a great spot to learn how to sail, enjoy some sea front dining and meet up with with some of the region’s most skilled and experienced sailors.

Both Junior and Adult sailing programmes and lessons from beginner to advanced are a regular features at the Phuket Yacht club as well as senior racing on a monthly basis.

A great spot to learn the ropes

The Phuket Yacht Club (previously Ao Chalong Yacht Club), set at the edge of Ao Chalong along Phuket’s southeast coast, is a great spot to learn the ropes of sailing, enjoy some waterfront dining and mingle with some of the region’s most skilled and salty sailors.

While ‘yacht club’ usually conjures up an image of white linen-clad snobs swanning around with martinis and showing off their pricey boats, the scene at Phuket Yacht Club is decidedly low-key and welcoming. It has a membership programme but non-members are welcome to come to dine, rent a kayak or try their hand at sailing.

In recent years the club has helped bring more youth and local people into the sport. One notable example is the success of the young Thai sailor, Patinyakorn Buranrom, who honed his skills in local regattas and went on to represent the the club in co-skippering a yacht in the 2013 TRANSPAC regatta, a 4,100-kilometre race across the Pacific from California to Hawaii. Completing the race in 12 days, his team came in third overall in their category.

The club has a small fleet of dinghy yachts available to rent, and it’s just launched a sailing school. Four courses are on offer: a play sail course for kids aged four to seven at 1,200 baht (non-member rate), a two-day junior sail course for children age seven and up at 5,200 baht, a fun sail training course at 1,500 baht, and two-day adult sailing course at 6,500 baht.

When the sun goes down in Phuket

Phuket is known for its vibrant nightlife scene. The island offers a wide range of entertainment options, from bustling nightclubs to lively beach bars, restaurants, markets and shows.

Phuket Yacht Club Bar and Restaurant

Of course the first place you will want to visit and return to many times is Phuket Yacht Club's very own bar and restaurant - with its great food, both Western and Thai ( see our menu here ). Situated right on the water front with just manicured lawns between you and the sea, open air with a large canopy roof to shelter you from the rains when they come. Plenty of seating which can be reorganised should you be celebrating with a group of friends or just tables for two. With a well stocked bar ( see our drinks list here ) you can enjoy sundowner cocktails, soft drinks, good wines and of course local beers.

We are open every day from 9am until late evening so coe along, eat, drink, be merry and swap your yachting tales with like minded club members, locals and visitors alike. Further Afield

Bangla road.

Located in Patong, Bangla Road is the epicenter of Phuket's nightlife. It's a pedestrian street lined with bars, clubs, and street performers. The atmosphere here is energetic and vibrant, with music blaring from every direction.

Patong Beach, Rawai Seafront, Nai Harn

Besides the beautiful Phuket coastline, the beach roads offer lively nightlife scenes to the south and along the west coast. You'll find a mix of beach bars, restaurants, and clubs along most of them.

Phuket Town

Phuket Town has a more laid-back and cultural vibe compared to Patong. However, it still has its fair share of bars, pubs, and live music venues. Soi Romanee and Ratsada Road are two popular areas for nightlife in Phuket Town. It also has Night Markets which are a great experience for both food, clothing and souvenirs.

Beach Clubs

Phuket is home to some fantastic beach clubs where you can enjoy music, drinks, and stunning ocean views. Catch Beach Club , Xana Beach Club , and Café del Mar are among the popular beach club options.

If you're a fan of live music, you'll find several venues in Phuket that host bands and performers. Red Hot Club and Hard Rock Café in Patong along with many more local small bars with some great local musicians especially in the Rawai area... chat with the local expats in our PYC clubhouse and they will happily recommend.

Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.
