Codecasa’s 55-Metre Framura Is Four Decks of Pure Luxury

Onboard the motor yacht framura..

framura yacht besitzer

Some guys have all the luck, and that certainly applies to the lucky owner of the brand-new 55-metre luxury yacht Framura.

Launched in the summer of 2020 by the Italian shipyard Cantieri Navali Codecasa , and delivered in mid-2021, the four-deck Framura neatly blends a classic exterior design with a bright and forward-looking interior.

That eye-catching exterior follows a traditional structural form, with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure configuration. Setting the stage for what awaits within is a striking silver-and-white two-tone finish that is at once timeless and fresh.

The full-displacement hull houses twin 2,365 horsepower caterpillar diesels that have more than enough oomph to push Framura to a maximum speed of 17 knots. At a more pedestrian 12 knots, this yacht enjoys a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles. That’s more than enough for a transatlantic voyage or a trip from Vancouver to Tahiti with fuel to spare.

Guests onboard Framura will enjoy those long hauls in total luxury, of course, thanks to the airy interior treatment that reflects a collaboration between the shipyard and the owner’s personal interior designer. Oversized windows surrounding the main and upper decks flood the interior with natural light, while light-hued furniture and textured fabrics maintain a sense of openness and cleanliness throughout. White walls and light woods, accented by indirect overhead and side lighting, ensure a light, refreshing atmosphere day or night.

Framura accommodates 12 passengers, with six spacious staterooms, including four guest cabins, a sumptuous VIP suite, and an enormous owner’s suite with a large ensuite with a walk-in shower, a spacious dressing area, and a seating area for enjoying morning tea.

The main deck provides plenty of space for the owners and their guests to lounge and unwind, indoors or out. The salon offers multiple places to stretch out with a great book or engage in quiet conversations. It also provides an audiophile-quality home theatre system for evening entertainment, complete with a large theatre-style sofa and four free-standing club chairs.

Heading aft, the expansive cockpit offers comfortable lounge seating while leaving plenty of space for a full dining table, allowing guests to enjoy dinners outside under the protection of the extended hard top.

Looking forward, twin promenades lead to the open bow and its delightful seating area with a pair of power-actuated tables for afternoons in the sun.

A tasteful staircase to the port side of the cockpit invites guests up to the bridge deck. The yacht’s TEAM Italia I-Bridge features an unusual design, with a central island and peninsulas along the side windows, but the result is a highly functional and comfortable suite that benefits from the latest in digital navigation technology.

The upper deck offers still more space for guests to unwind in peace or work on their tan with an open upper cockpit offering elevated views of the surroundings. It also houses a fully equipped gym so guests can work out while enjoying the views.

With its modern appointments and classic design, Framura raises the bar on yacht design. Crisp and inviting, it is a brilliant take on the contemporary family yacht, one that is certain to inspire a whole new generation of designs.

Video: Watch the Launch of Codecasa's 55 Metre Framura

Italian builder  Codecasa  has released a new video of the launch of its 55 metre fully custom superyacht Framura .

The launch took place last month on July 18 at Codecasa's Viareggio based production facility during a private ceremony.

Known as Hull C123, the 55 metre Codecasa motor yacht features four decks, a full displacement hull and "clean and elegant exterior lines," the yard said.

The yacht's interiors have been designed by an owner's appointed interior designed in collaboration with the yard's in-house style department.

Inside, the yacht has a "simple and elegant yet eye-catching design", Codecasa said.

The technical side of the project has been developed by Codecasa’s in-house team.

Codecasa shipyard has recently launched the first superyacht in their 45-metre series, named Framura 2 . The new motor yacht, designed by Andre Bacigalupo , continues the famous Codecasa 35s and Codecasa 41s lines.

The interior layout of the motor yacht Framura 2 was designed by AnnaMaria and Franco Della Role in collaboration with Margherita Gozzi . The superyacht offers much more spacious living area compared to Cdecasa 35s and Cadecasa 41s.

The Framura 2’ interior features sophisticated color scheme. Among the colors prevails the contrast between the dark wenge of the floor (in the saloon and in the Lower Deck Owner and Guests areas) and the light ivory leather used for ceilings, side-walls, sofas, armchairs, and for the panel separating the saloon from the Bridge and for all the headboards.

The salon of the motor yacht is spacious and light. There is a plexiglass dining table, able to accommodate up to 10 guests. The partitioning panel consists of a fixed part and of two sliding side doors, which, when opened are a way to reach the wheelhouse and the guests stairs. The bridge is hidden behind the saloon partitioning panel.

The sundeck of the Framura 2 features a second helm station, a generous sunbathing area and alfresco dining table.

Framura 2 is powered by three MTU engines developing 2400 hp each, two waterjets KaMeWa 71 S 3 and one booster KaMeWa 63 B. She is able to reach a top speed of 30 knots.

Specification of the Framura 2:

L.O.A.: 45.5m Beam: 8.50 m Charter Guest: 10 Crew: 7 Cabins: 5 Engines: 3 MTU 2400 HP each Max Speed: 30 knots

framura yacht besitzer

The sea trial was pubblished in Superyacht 40 – Winter 2014

Codecasa’s sporty new flag ship, signed by Andre Bacigalupo and architects Della Role hit the water packed with sober elegance and oozing performance.

Following Codecasa’s successful 35S, 41S and 45S models which are all built in aluminium and are the first of the sports line this shipyard has built in aluminium and led the company to expand the line and complete the envisaged range, which is made up of splendid single decked motor yachts, with motor yacht “Framura 3”. This new 50 metre thus becomes Codecasa’s Sport line flag ship. The first of this line dates back to 2004 almost a decade ago with “Maria Carla” a 35S and with a further five models in various sizes perpetuating the stylistic features, spirit, construction materials and performance inherited from preceding models, but adding a whole deck given the extra length, rather than a simple flying bridge situated on the superstructure’s coachroof which was the case in smaller models. Andre Bacigalupo drew up project designs for every yacht and all the excellent hulls of the Sports line which guarantee thrilling performances also on 270 ton yachts.

framura yacht besitzer

“Framura 3” was off the chocks and into the water on June 22nd 2013 at Codecasa’s new production premises situated along the Navicelli canal in Pisa which is the company’s latest acquisition extending over an area of 25,000 square metres of which 10,000 are taken up by 4 identical hangars of 2,500 square metres. Each one of these hangars is served by a travel lift capable of handling up to 670 tons. This site can host hulls and superstructures up to 80 metres, right from initial phases of production.

framura yacht besitzer

Bacigalupo’s expertise in distributing the stylistic features inherited from the smaller yachts of the same line to the flagship “Framura 3” without exceeding in any one direction is remarkable. The lowered radar dome too sports an original aesthetic touch which is at the same time useful in providing shade to the al fresco dining area on the upper deck with a supporting almost “invisible” light awning when lunches are taken out there. This is a smart original and efficient solution with a characterising personality.

The lounge saloon area in the bow of this 50 metre, proportionally sports more generous spaces than those found on the 41S and 45S models with: a huge forward facing sofa, two coffee tables with small accompanying armchairs, two sun beds hosting up to three on each. The 50S also has access to the upper deck via two lateral passage ways along each side of the superstructure which can be taken from the stern area and from the helm controls station as well. In line with current trends “Framura 3” boasts a wide terrace which opens out from the topsides on the starboard side in the bow area which provides more air, light and an extra view to the gym which is part of the owner’s mega suite.

The interior layout in terms of colour schemes is classic with innovative solutions. The main deck hosts the saloon amidships, which is decorated with a beach scene painted by Salvatore Fiume, and the owner’s 75 square metre mega suite which is situated in the full beam area in the bows and comprises aside from his night quarters proper, an area to port which serves as dresser/make up spot, followed by a lounge with armchair and foot rest on the starboard side, two walk in wardrobes, as many bathrooms and the already mentioned gym for the opening terrace.

One of the innovative solutions is the fact there’s only one dining area inside and one out as mentioned earlier but both are situated on the upper deck level. The interior dining area sports Michele Cascella’s “Estate di Rapallo” a well known painter around the Tigullio Gulf. As per tradition, Codecasa’s helm controls stations are a happy harmonious synthesis made up of functionality, aesthetics and modernity and it’s no less in the case in point. Latest generation technology, and gauges are all lined and inserted into precious materials and controls are placed to be readily used with ease.

The lower deck’s layout is somewhat more unusual. The bow area houses guest cabins which entail one VIP full beam cabin, three twins, and a double. The crew’s quarters are placed amidships with four twin cabins and a single for the captain, a huge mess-room and galley. Further aft we come to a full beam garage which houses a 7 metre Castoldi Jet tender which can be launched and recovered on the port side via an adequate hatch. The stern area hosts an all in house engineered, impeccable and well defined splendid engine room. A lot of careful planning went into the making of this engine room for it to be aesthetically on par with this yacht’s overall beauty. It’s a place where one can work well even when in close contact with three 2,600 Hp MTU 16V 2000 M94 engines coupled to two Kamewa 80 S III hydro-jets and to one booster model 71 B III which push this 270 ton ship to a top speed of 28 knots. “Framura 3” can cover one thousand nautical miles at 18 knots with 45,000 litres of fuel, which for a planing yacht of this size is a notable result which highlights the excellence and efficiency of Bacigalupo’s hull design.

Architects Anna Maria and Franco Della Role as many times before provided the interior decor which in this instance was finalised after two years’ close work with the owner’s architect of choice. The decorative choices of this expert pair of architects that are on the light and bright side. They stand out for their simplified geometrics supplemented with the preciousness of the materials chosen where clean cut essential lines remove all that is superfluous without ever neglecting care and refinement throughout. Each area boasts contrasting lights and darks: the main deck saloon, the dining area on the upper deck, the owner’s mega suite as in the five guest cabins all sport the same light oak opposed to dark wenge wood essences and the neutral shades of fabrics and upholstery materials are occasionally revived with isolated splashes of more intense colours which provide verve to each area.

framura yacht besitzer

“Framura 3” is therefore an excellent and happy mix between opposites, in terms of architecture, decor, and engineering. The exteriors offer intense aggressive yet light sinuous lines and a highly performing speed of 28 knots guaranteed by the three engines and Ship Dynamics zero speed gyro. stabilisers ensure great comfort when lying to an anchor while the originality of the interior layout blends well with the careful study of the guest areas and passages, leading to them and to the crew quarters which underscore the sort of comfort, and liveability this Codecasa S line flagship offers, thus making any cruise all the more pleasant. With four models in the S line from 35 to 50 metres, Codecasa can now fully satisfy every demand and expectation within the sport motor yacht range with yachts that are undoubtedly also elegant and comfortable. Framura: 5 Green Experiences in Ancient Villages Overlooking the Sea

framura yacht besitzer

In Liguria, not so far from the famous Cinque Terre , there is a quiet town known as Framura. This amazing place is characterized by the incredible beauty of its breathtaking views. Ideal for those who love the seabed, the lonely beaches or just take a walk on the sea.

The five small old towns are nestled in mountains facing the crystal-clear water of the sea. History of Framura enriches the landscape. If you like slow journey, natural paths and diving into the sea, you need to find these 5 green experiences out!

1. A walk along “La Via del Mare”

Natural pool

Firstly , La Via del Mare is, for sure, one of the most beautiful trails of Framura. This is a panoramic walk overlooking the sea, inaugurated in 2016. From a side of it you can have the rock walls, the agaves and the luxuriant plants, on the other side thousands of shades of blue water.

The on foot itinerary starts from the train station of Framura and lasts about 10 minutes up to the most beautiful beaches . The romanticism of this walk reminds the famous Via dell’Amore in Cinque Terre. Furthermore, along the route you can stop and admire the view at the shadow of the pines.

2. Dive in and admire the seabed

Sea view in Framura, Liguria

Secondly, for those who love the diving and snorkeling the astonishing seabed are the perfect landscape. As a result, swimming in this amazing sea,  different kinds of flora such as, bream, anchovies, mullet, amberjack, damselfish, croaker and so on, will surround you.

You can reach the Framura’s beaches on foot only. Obviously, this make isolation from the rest of the world possible and gives peacefulness to the place. The main beaches are:

  • Spiaggia di La Vallà – Apicchi. This is a sandy inlet, one of the most quiet and isolated among the Framura’s beaches. In 2020 it was elected as blue flag beach , thanks to its crystal-clear water.
  • Spiaggia di Fornaci is a very nice equipped beach. It had the blue flag beach recognition too and it is reachable from Deiva Marina easily.
  • Spiaggia di Arena is maybe, the most beautiful beach of Framura thanks to the color of its rocks.
  • Spiaggetta di Torsei . This is a small inlet between the rocks. The nearest to the train station, equipped with showers, toilet facilities and a bar.
  • Spiaggetta di Porto Pidocchio : the small remote cove is reachable by bike and connects Framura to Bonassola.

3. Discover ancient villages

Framura, ancient villages

Thirdly, it is very interesting discovering the ancient history and life of Framura, passing through the five hamlets of Anzo , Castagnola , Costa , Ravecca and Setta . These towns hided between mountains and sea are evaluated among the best maritime villages in Italy .

In addition, the pedestrian route, that connects villages to the sea, presents: steps, alleys, panoramic terraces and paths with dry stone walls. So, walking down the path, starting from the sea towards the villages, will become a travel in time. Nature noises and daily life sounds will follow you for the whole route. Furthermore, you will discover the farmers in the vineyards and several cats watching at you from the top of the houses. Moreover, the historical proofs of glorious Genoese domination are the incredible buildings, such as, churches and watchtowers of sixteenth century.

4. The local specialties of vegetable gardens and vineyards

Vegetable gardens on terraces

Undoubtly, tourists love local food and wines. Indeed, along the Riviera, on the  terraced  hills,   several white wines are produced, and they perfectly join with local dishes. For example, you can taste different kind of fish, pasta with pesto or tortelli with borage.

Furthermore, along the on foot itinerary, in Anzo, Castagnola and Costa particularly, you can find some stands selling zero km vegetables. You do not have to miss the tasty focacce, salting pies, or the most known trofie with pesto.

5. The Ancient Gallery by bike

framura yacht besitzer

The route from Framura to Bonassola and Levanto can be covered by bike or on foot. Walking this path down, you can admire the breathtaking view and other little beaches where you can take a bath. This amazing 6 km itinerary was created in an old train gallery, built at the end of nineteenth century. Through the small windows you can watch the wonderful colors of the sea, and you can protect yourself from the scorching sun.

Above all, the first town you meet is Bonassola with its lively squares and beaches. Beyond, there is Levanto with its large coasts. Frequently, there are some costal storms, which attract a lot of surfers all over Italy.

How to get there and where to sleep

where to sleep in Framura

Framura is considered an eco-sustainable place. You can get there by train , and beaches are reachable on foot in few minutes from the train station. In such a way, you do not have to worry about parking, and you will be eco-friendly .

eco-friendly farmhouse in Framura

This organic farmhouse surrounded by silence and nature, 6 km from the beach, is the ideal starting point for exploring the paths of Framura on foot , from the hinterland to the sea. By train it will also be very convenient to reach the Cinque Terre , Levanto, Bonassola, Deiva Marina and other Ligurian villages on the sea. In addition to staying in the eco-friendly  apartments , you can relax in the large panoramic garden , enjoy fresh vegetables from the garden, wine, oil and organic honey from the farm.

eco-glamping Sesta Terra in Framura

If you are interested in these places you can search on Ecobnb some of eco-sustainble accommodations. For example, the Eco-glamping La Sesta Terra has several wood cottages and glamping tents. It is deep in nature and silence , of forests of holms, pines and oaks, vineyards and flowers. The train station is not so far, and you can get there by e-bike available for guests. the coast between Framura and Bonassola, with Salto della Lepre in the background.

Like Cinque Terre – but without the crowds

A few miles from Italy’s honeypot villages, but overlooked by the cruise ship tours, Framura offers tranquil hamlets and gorgeous walks, sea views and cuisine

‘F or me this is the best place in the world,” says Elena Bisio, as I puff behind her up the stony path. We crest a hill known as Salto della Lepre (hare’s leap) and I have to agree the climb is worth it: from a natural terrace 200 metres high we gaze north-west over a panorama of steep slopes falling into blue sea, with villages huddled under almost vertical walls of rock, or clinging to green hillsides.

framura map

If that sounds a little like the Unesco-listed Cinque Terre national park, it’s because that honeypot area starts less than five miles away to the south. But while the Cinque Terre are up there with Venice and Barcelona when it comes to overtourism, and hiking its scenic paths requires a €7.50 permit, we pay nothing and meet no one on our two-hour walk from Framura to Bonassola on a sunny morning.

Elena, who runs Foody , a tourist platform offering local food and wine experiences all over Italy, lives in Genoa, 40 miles up the coast, but has spent summers in Framura all her life. She is keen to show me that this patch isn’t just the equal of the “five lands” but better, with affordable places to stay, great views and walks – and local businesses delighted to welcome foreign visitors.

Arriving by train from Genoa, we soon learn that the station is the only place actually called Framura; the village is made up of five medieval frazioni , or hamlets. Anzo, Ravecca, Setta and Costa stretch up the hillside to Castagnola at 300 metres, linked by a hairpin road but also by a steep traffic-free footpath.

On this coast, where the northern Appennines meet the Ligurian Sea, there are stunning views at every turn. Our hotel, the Augusta, an uphill walk from the station, is run by unflappable Nadia and her builder husband Mario, who also knocks up excellent breads for breakfast each day. Its breakfast room, terrace and several bedrooms offer a vista of ancient walls, rocky headlands and terraced fields.

It’s a 20-minute uphill walk to Setta, where the town hall and shops are. Enrica’s deli, Le Cose Buone (good things), has a tempting terrace for drinks and homemade focaccia, but we’re heading to the source of many good Ligurian things, Emilio Queirolo’s farm and winery.

Emilio Queirolo picking peaches

This passionate young viticoltore takes us on a tour of the vines – red, rosé and vermentino – he has planted since taking over the family business. After we’ve enjoyed yet more sea views, and peeped at a hen pheasant on her nest amid the vines, we pile into a trailer to head off for lunch, stopping every few metres to pick ingredients – onions, fat tomatoes, a tightly packed lettuce, and sun-warmed cherries and peaches.

Emilio’s Ca’ di Mare winery sells to a new business (opened in July) that clearly foresees a great future for Framura. No new permanent building is allowed this close to the national park, but Sesta Terra (from €260 a night for four) is a solar-powered “natural resort” of safari tents and chalets with upcycled furnishings, plus bar, restaurant and pool on slopes outside Framura.

Safari tents at Sesta Terra.

Sesta Terra apart, the accommodation in these parts is more low-key – like the Augusta , with its excellent fish restaurant and pizzeria, or, for tighter budgets, the Perla del Levante hostel (dorm beds €28 including generous breakfast, perladellevanteframura.it ) in Ravecca.

And then there’s the Italian favourite, the agriturismo farmstay, though round here they offer something extra. The winding road to Laghello d’Anima (apartments for four from €104) is filled with scents of pine and cherry, rosemary and acacia. These are vital ingredients for 78-year-old owner Guido Erluison and his hundreds of thousands of workers – the honey bees in his 30 hives. In a shady pergola, Guido – a dead ringer for John Betjeman – gives us a honey tasting by territory and season, from spring heather to late-season corbezzolo (strawberry tree). A stream on the property’s edge has pools deep enough for swimming – perfect on hot days when hitting the beach feels too much like hard work.

Davide with Ca du Ferrà wines

Next day we meet charming and handsome Davide and Giuseppe, the first gay couple to get civil-partnered in Liguria (in 2016); they now dispense their charm and organic wines from a vineyard agriturismo above Bonassola. Ca du Ferrà (tour and tasting from €25, two-bedroom cottages from €70 B&B) is the closest winery to the sea in the region: it’s 400 metres away – mostly vertically. The vines grow to the edge of grassy cliffs, appearing to float above the hazy blue. Their Luccicante vermentino, which we sip at a shady table with views towards the French border, is an extraordinary mouthful – a landscape in a glass, with flavours of white peach and strawberry set off by herbal notes of the Mediterranean scrub we’d hiked through earlier.

After gazing at the blue Ligurian sea all day, it’s great to get on it. Emiliano Shilke of Pevea Boats ( pevea.it ) runs fishing charters and Cinque Terre trips, but we opt to admire cliffs and tiny coves on his two-hour “sunset aperitivo tour” (€40pp) from the resort of Levanto to Framura. Emiliano also has a valued non-human associate – sea-loving border collie Lapo. Before tucking into chilled wine and filled focaccia, we leap off the boat to share a dip with the joyfully paddling dog.

The Ciclopedonale route from Framura to Bonassola, on a disused railway line.

Framura has much more to offer: a new coastal path to wild La Vallà and Arena beaches, a walking/cycling track in a restored railway tunnel (with arches on to the waves), ebike hire at the station for self-guided or guided tours, and fishy fine dining at three-year-old “wine bar and kitchen” L’Agave high above the tiny port.

The fact that the Cinque Terre are just 20 minutes away by train feels rather superfluous.

Accommodation was provided by Hotel Augusta (doubles from €74 B&B, hotelaugusta.net ); train to Framura was provided by Trenitalia; (single Genoa to Framura from €6.6o, available on the move via the Trenitalia app ), book food and wine tours in Framura at foodyexperience.com

This is Liguria

Framura , a ladder to heaven. Not many people know this stretch of coast of the eastern riviera, squeezed between Sestri Levante and the Cinque Terre. Yet, Framura could very well be considered the sixth land, and no one would have anything to say about it. A walk in its hamlets is enough to realize their tremendous beauty. Framura is all about walking in well-kept alleys, squares where you literally fly with your gaze on the sea below, cultivated gardens and a silence that still allows you to listen to the nightingales.i.

Framura Setta

Framura - Setta locality

On this page we will learn everything you need to know before visiting Framura. We will let you book its best hotels, agritourisms and b & bs, we will go for a swim in its sea and its beaches, we will take a look at the weather and we will see how to move between Bonassola and Framura on foot along its cycle path up to Levanto .

We really like Framura, absolutely one of the most particular places in Liguria, so much so that no one, if not regulars, knows that a real Framura does not even exist: the municipality is divided into five independent hamlets, five steps that rise from the sea up to the ridge where the cliff meets the clouds. In between, the usual handful of pastel houses with green shutters that make Liguria so much, Saracen towers, small ports created in the middle of the rocks by human tenacity, and an amazing feeling of peace and harmony with nature.

Framura hotels

Where to sleep in Framura There are a good number of hotels, and we have taken the trouble to select the best ones for you, those with the best value for money, those where you can stay with little but being well, in contact with the sea and an infinite view over it. Whether they are bed and breakfast or farmhouse, there is all our taste in this essential part of the holiday or the small weekend you are planning in this delightful (and amateur) piece of Liguria in miniature that is Framura..

Framura porticciolo

Framura sea and beaches

The sea of Framura you grab it immediately, as soon as you get off the train. It is immediately next to us, and it is enough to go down a couple of steps to conquer it. There are five beaches in Framura , all within easy walking distance of the station, even with children.

  • Torsei beach is the first one you meet. Like all the other beaches in Framura, at first glance it can be mistaken for a swimming pool, it is so crystalline and transparent. It is very Liguria since it occupies the space right under the railway wall, which gives it shade, especially in the early morning. It is a pebble and pebble beach, where it is better to have rock shoes to enter the water. It is equipped with a snack bar and a shower to shake off the salt. It can be more or less crowded during the season, but still worth a stop.a.
  • A little further on, there is the tourist port of Framura, which is certainly not a beach but where, when there is little confusion and little movement of boats, you can absolutely swim, as much as the sea is beautiful. It can be reached from the cycle path above via a staircase or an elevator, or via a descent directly from the parking lot just outside the station tunnel. The port of Framura is enchanting and for those of us who hang out and know a little about Greece, there is the feeling of being in the south coast of Crete , like Hora Sfakion.
  • Go up on the cycle-pedestrian, just beyond the lift and the Agave restaurant, take the first tunnel of the old disused railway and soon you will meet the detour, now barred with a gate, to one of the most characteristic beaches of Framura, that of Porto. Louse. Porto Pidocchio is another natural swimming pool, with high walls that protect it and make its sea calm and smooth even on days of great wind. The gate was positioned to dissuade access due to the danger of falling rocks, but the beach is still easily accessible, perhaps not too much with small children, but for everyone else, no problem. The colors of the sea are unique, and the only gripe is the erosion of the sea and the feeling that the municipality of Framura must intervene more to improve its safety and bathing: despite the beautiful ladder that leads to it, there is the feeling that Porto Pidocchio is left to its fate. We hope someone reads and intervenes! Going back up after taking a bath in Porto Pidocchio, we forget to continue towards Bonassola and go back to the station. In fact, from here begins the most spectacular promenade of Bonassola, the sea route. The via del mare is a magical pedestrian strip carved into the cliff that allows you to move between the beach of Torsei and the beach of Vallà.
  • Also called simply the beach of Framura, the beach of Vallà is 800 meters of pure enjoyment for the view, a whole magnificent view, at any time of the day, but especially at sunset. In absolute terms, we can say that taking the sea route is the thing to do in Framura that you just cannot fail to put in your pocket before returning home. Among other things, the stairs that allow you to go up to the villages of Framura, Anzo-Setta and Costa, the ones where the locals live and which are the ones that will definitely make you fall in love with Framura, branch off along the promenade. But now we are talking about beaches and we are interested in letting you know that La vallà beach is an equipped and very well maintained beach, protected by the breakwater. Particular this introduces to an always calm sea, and needless to say, limpid and crystalline. The vallà is a free equipped beach, therefore with free access but where it is possible to rent deckchairs and umbrellas. There is a shower and a tap, but no restaurant or bar. For that, you need to go back to Torsei beach and the station.e.
  • The valley is therefore truly the top of Framura's beaches, but it is not the last. There is also the beach of the Arena, a quiet cove of pebbles in the first section and then sand going a little further away, and always very wild, also very popular with pet owners, making it a bit like Framura's dog beach. .”.

Framura what to see

The town is divided into five hamlets and therefore what to see in Framura is a continuous movement, or rather ups and downs, between the villages that meet within the municipality of Framura. Starting from the sea to go up, they are the following: Anzo, Ravecca, Setta, Costa, Castagnola, and they are all connected to each other not only by the normal road which gradually gets narrower, so much so as to hope not to cross the bus, but also from a pedestrian staircase that makes it clear how our grandparents moved. They certainly didn't need to be runners to keep fit!a!

Indeed is the first of the hamlets of Framura starting from the bottom, and here we have the Church of the Madonna della Neve , unusual in its color and with its red bricks, and a Genoese watchtower dating back to 1500. There is not much else to see in this first village, because Anzo historically was a holiday resort for Genoese nobles, and so from behind the walls we can glimpse large gardens, villas of other times, cypresses and towers of when the Art Nouveau was the fashion of the moment.

Ravecca it is the village that hosts what we can define as true historic center of Framura . Here it really seems to take a stroll in the Middle Ages, silence is always the protagonist, and the steps unfold next to small private chapels, and make a slalom between pot-bellied pots of succulents and cacti.

Sect it is the heart of Framura's sociability, and one of the places where we love to spend most of our time in this locality. Here you will find the town hall, the pharmacy, two bars and a few small shops necessary to avoid having to take the car every day. In Setta there is a hairdresser and a bakery, a deli and a pizzeria, the indispensable playground for children, it goes without saying with a sea view that carries away even the worries of parents in a thousand thoughts.

Framura Costa

Going up again, it is impossible not to mention It costs among what to see in Framura. Costa is the sighting village about 300 meters above sea level, the one that contains the most important things to visit in Framura from a historical and architectural point of view. The star of the fraction is therea Carolingian Tower , one of the oldest in Liguria, partly built as early as 800 AD. Next to her, you will find the Church of San Martino , which among other things preserves a work by Bernardo Strozzi, a great exponent of Baroque art.

In Costa di Framura there is a bar / restaurant and a bus stop, but above all what is striking is that here time really has a different relevance. There is the whole dimension of the countryside still very present, there are people who tenaciously cultivate, there are people who cook at home, who have been left behind without having wanted to - by the machine company. And there is a strong feeling that this was fortunate that for us citizens (oh how far Genoa seems from down here, yet it is only 50 minutes by car!) It was not reserved for us, we are always in pursuit of a life that the more you advance in progress the more you do ultimately anti-human . We could, and would like, be wrong.

Before leaving Framura, among its villages and hamlets to visit, it is also worth mentioning Castagnola , which you have to cross to reach Deiva Marina and its highway exit. It doesn't take much to park your car, and maybe have a coffee at his ACLI club. Breathe in the fresh air and maybe pick some figs to take home to remember the sweetness of this old-time Framura.

Finally, it deserves a separate note  Maremonti cycle-pedestrian path , which ends in Framura and begins its splendid 6 km run up to Levanto. Created using the old track of the disused railway after doubling upstream, it leads cyclists and pedestrians to discover one of the most beautiful corners of Liguria. After 2.4 km it makes a first stop crossing the village and the beach of Bonassola. After a further 2.6 km, it leads to Levanto. From here, hopefully in the near future the Framura cycle path will reach Monterosso , allowing you to directly connect the village to the Cinque Terre. What a dream it would be to prolong it to the other extreme, maybe until Moneglia !

Framura how to arrive and park

We almost always recommend get to Framura in train , especially for those interested in experiencing it from the sea and along its cycle path. In this case, just take the car to Sestri Levante, or Levanto, and then continue the last piece on the rail. There are no direct services to get to Framura by train from the large northern cities: only regional trains stop at Framura, and the only direct connection with an important location is with Genoa.

For all the others, you can always get to Framura in machine , along the A12 motorway and exiting at the Deiva Marina exit, and then continuing for about a quarter of an hour, up to the chosen parking location. In this regard, in fact, a minimum of planning is required.

Framura Liguria

Location Setta

Parking in Framura in fact, in high season, it is extremely difficult, and it becomes more and more complicated as you get closer to the sea and the station. Each of the five hamlets of Framura has a parking area, of which many spaces are reserved for residents: the premises must be given priority. For this, the bus that connects the villages to the sea and to the station helps. Knowing the timetables, you can simply park in Castagnola, Costa, or Setta-Ravecca, and then get off the bus. Or even on foot, perhaps on the way out, and take the vehicle just to avoid the climb on the way back!

The views of Andrea and Katerina

Framura is our little gem. So much so that some summers, we took our bicycle down here by train and left it parked with a chain and lock at the beginning of the cycle path: you will see many left like this. Just be careful not to forget it, that the municipality every end of October cleans up the forgotten ones!

Framura mare

Framura, for Andrea and Katerina, has the real taste of a vacation, totally unplugged, made of rock and elements. And not only is there the sea but there is that countryside that reminds us so much that we know that sooner or later we will have to leave the city for a place like it. And then it is so close to Bonassola, another beloved, and completes it in so many ways, that you don't need to go elsewhere to feel and experience the spirit of Liguria.

Framura is a small treasure chest that contains exactly what we are and have been able to create on our territory, between our rocky beaches and our steep and tiring mountains.
