The announcement, made in a press release last week, outlines a licensing agreement between Sail America and the California Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA), in which the latter has assumed management of the show, with ownership eventually being transferred to CYBA. The show venue is the Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City, California, which provides extensive in-water dockage for a large assortment of sail and power boats, plus on-land space for various trailerable boats and a suitable tent space for booth exhibitors.

CYBA Executive Director Ty Mellott said, “Our goal is to support the return of a first-class Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show in Northern California that attracts regional and national exhibitors. We are delighted to be working with Sail America to produce the 2023 show. Attendees and exhibitors alike will find the location attractive with its ideal Mediterranean-like weather and the close proximity to a variety of restaurants and lodging that are within 10 minutes from the marina.”

Under the agreement, Sail America members will continue to enjoy a member discount on in-water and upland exhibitor space, and Sail America will be named as a sponsor.

“Sail America is delighted to be working with the team at CYBA. It ensures that the show will continue, that the sailing industry in that region is supported, and provides opportunity for Sail America to focus on other programs that best serve its members,” Sail America’s president Josie Tucci said. “Our goal has always been to deliver a successful, sail-focused show that attracts regional and national attention in Northern California. We believe our new relationship with CYBA will help us to achieve that goal.”

The next six months will no doubt be busy for the organizers, with planning, preparation and hard work to be done, but it will no doubt be an excellent show, and we’re excited to see it back on the Bay Area’s calendar.

From the perspective of a North Bay sailor, the location is less than ideal, and will likely keep me away – unless it is possible to get a guest berth there and spend a few days on our boat. We’d much prefer a more central East Bay location; Oakland and Richmond have worked well in the past

Do you think they knowingly overlapped this with the SailGP races happening that weekend in SF? Seems like most people who would want to see both may be forced to choose one or the other.

For years we slogged to to Alameda and the even less reachable Richmond. Sorry to hear that you are being inconvenienced, but don’t you think it’s time for those that make their home on the Peninsula to have a bit of an easier time visiting the boat show. Personally, I love these shows and am thrilled that they are back.

From community boat parades and regattas to the latest innovations in the yacht racing world, you can see it on the Bay. Three Bridge Fiasco - Saturday, January 27, 2024

The Three Bridge Fiasco hosted by the Single-Handed Sailing Society takes place right outside of the St. Francis Yacht Club . Racers compete single- or double-handed to round three buoys or temporary marks representing the three major bridges of the San Francisco Bay; the Golden Gate Bridge, East Bay Bridge, and Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. This race is an annual event regularly attracting more than 300 yachts and teams from all over the Bay Area.

Opening Day on the Bay - Sunday, April 28

Celebrate the official beginning to the San Francisco Bay sailing season with fellow sailing enthusiasts! 2024 marks the 107th annual celebration kicking off the start of the boating season in the Bay Area. From the blessing of the fleet in Racoon Straits to the parade of decorated boats, Opening Day on the Bay is one of the premier sailing events of the year. Dating back to 1917 and organized by the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association , the parade sails from the shadows of the Golden Gate Bridge to just past Pier 39. Any vessels can take part as long as they register beforehand. The procession regularly features tug boats, clean-up boats and tour boats, with visitors and spectators onboard. Judges are on hand to dish out prizes for the décor and imagination of the colorful vessels.

The Master Mariners Annual Regatta - Memorial Day Weekend

All you have to do is slip the lines, hoist your sails, and head out to your favorite body of water on a sailboat. Master Mariner's Wooden Boat Show at Corinthian Yacht Club - June TBD

The Annual Wooden Boat Show is one of the highlights of the San Francisco sailing season, and one of only a few West coast wooden boat shows.

There are a few ways to witness the exciting action of F50 foiling catamarans zipping and splashing around the Central Bay: (1) watch the race from shore by buying tickets from SailGP . Modern Sailing club members can (2) charter a boat or (3) join a Club Sail to watch from the water.

Rolex Big Boat Series and J/88 Nationals - September TBD

The Rolex Big Boat Series is a four-day regatta founded by the St. Francis Yacht Club in 1964. The annual event attracts competitive racing teams and big racing boats from all over the state, nation, and world. Thousands of racers and hundreds of boats take to the Bay each day of the race, competing for first place and the Rolex watch that comes with it. MSC club members can bareboat charter or join a Club Sail to witness the excitement from the water.

Island Yacht Club Women's Sailing Seminar - September TBD

IYC's 3 days of sailing, learning and fun includes in-person and streaming seminars and keynote speeches, food, drink, and no-host cocktail hours, giveaways including t-shirts and totes, and an amazing raffle drawing! Stay tuned for more details as we approach September.

Fleet Week - October 2 - 8

The grand finale to summer in San Francisco, Fleet Week, celebrates the United States Navy allowing civilians to tour warships while their sailors tour the city. The week begins with a parade of ships progressing to free concerts, educational events, and family fun. Fleet Week's grand finale is a two-day air show over the Bay featuring the Blue Angels of the United States Airforce, the F-35 Demo Team, a demo from United's largest airplane, and several internationally known performance flight teams. The best seat in the house for these shows is from a boat on the Bay - keep an eye out for our Club Sails that weekend.

Sausalito Lighted Boat Parade - December 7

Spark the spirit of the season with holiday lights, music and fireworks on the water! This special event is a holiday tradition in Sausalito and across the Bay Area. Every year, we enter two of our club boats in the parade and our hard-working fleet staff decorate them for our members and guests to participate in this magical experience. With the sounds of holiday music and cheering spectators, you and your guests will be dazzled by the spectacle of decorated boats and fireworks. An enchanting and memorable event to kick off the season, even the grinchiest of sailors will be unable to resist the holiday cheer.

The Annual International Sportsmen's Exposition Sacramento Show is California's largest sportsmen and sportfishing boat show. The show will feature the latest in boating, fishing and marine accessories for show-priced bargains. ISE is Northern California's only sportsmen show with gun, rifle, fly fishing, camp and cooking exhibitors. The show is located at the Cal Expo State Fairgrounds.

2023 Northern California Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show

The California Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA) is very excited to inform the marine industry that the CYBA’s Pacific Sail & Power Boat show will be held May 4 th -7 th , 2023. The show venue will be at WestPoint Harbor in Redwood City, California. WestPoint Harbor is the newest full-service yacht harbor in Northern California located in the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. The venue at WestPoint Harbor will not only provide extensive in-water dockage for a large assortment of sail and power boats alike, but it will also provide on-land space for various trailerable boats and a suitable tent space for booth exhibitors.

CYBA Executive Director Ty Mellott says, “Our goal is to support the return of a first-class Pacific Sail & Power Boat show in Northern California that attracts regional and national exhibitors. We are delighted to be working with Sail America to produce the 2023 show.” He continued, “Attendees and exhibitors alike will find the location attractive with its ideal Mediterranean like weather and the close proximity to a variety of restaurants and lodging that are within 10 minutes from the marina.” Show Manager, Jim Behun adds, “as a long-time boat show manager and producer, I look forward to developing a great selling boat show with the CYBA at the fantastic facilities of Westpoint Harbor.”

The 2023 show is the first edition of the partnership announced in 2021 between Sail America and the California Yacht Brokers Association who entered into a licensing agreement for the Pacific Sail and Power Boat show. Under that agreement, the CYBA has taken responsibility for the management of the show. Not only will Sail America members continue to receive an exhibitor discount at the new show, but all participating CYBA members will receive the same discount. Over the period of the agreement, the ownership of the show will eventually transfer to the CYBA. Over the next three months, with planning, preparation and hard work, Northern California will again be the home to PSPBS.

The family-friendly event features manufacturers and dealers of outdoor products, tons of boats, travel lodges and more, as well as kids’ activities, live music and expert seminars. There are two trout fishing ponds set up for kids to try for a catch – which they will also release.

Organizers said this year’s show will feature more boat buying opportunities and several new manufacturers and retail shops. It is spanning seven of the fairground’s halls, making for 217,000 square feet of show experience that continues through Sunday.

“My husband is a big fisherman. We have a boat and we go out pretty often, but he wants to get into kite fishing so he wanted to come and scout it out,” said Samantha Villavicencio of Escondido, who was at the kid’s fishing pond with her two children Logan, 3, and Villavicencio, 5.

“This is my first time to the show, but my husband mentioned there were activities for the kids,” she said, “so we all came because we want to make sure our kids get into fishing.”

When: Noon to 7 p.m. on March 8; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 9; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 10

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Whether you're the son of a son of a sailor or even just love that song and want to know more, the granddaddy of all boating events is happening this weekend along the West Palm Beach waterfront.

That's right, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is back for four glorious days along Flagler Drive.

This will be the 42nd annual event, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

There will be $1.2 billion worth of Bond-worthy super yachts, cruisers, sportfishing boats, center consoles and even inflatables to see and tour, along with attractions and activities highlighting the latest in boat engines, motors and accessories. There will also be the latest fishing gear and even fishing seminars.

Yes, it's a big event, but don't be intimidated. In fact, here are seven fun facts about the show:

How many boats can this boat show boast?

There will be more than 800 boats on display along the floating docks in the Intracoastal Waterway.

What is the biggest boat at the boat show?

With a length of 236 feet (and 38 feet wide), Casino Royale takes the title for largest boat this year. This gorgeous yacht, designed for her exterior lines by Francesco Paszkowski with interior by Paszkowski’s interior lead designer Margherita Casprini, is also one of the most technically advanced yachts in her category. Casino Royale is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B main engines and has an impressive top speed of 17.5 knots. You can put your checkbooks away for this one, however, as she is only on display and not for sale.

This boat is the boat show's most epensive

Built in 2022 and 196-feet long, Come Together is listed for $59,950,000. This expedition yacht was delivered by the Dutch shipyard Amels and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design. It can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins along with 14 crew members.

Are spectators allowed to go on the boats?

To go onboard the yachts and superyachts, visitors must make an appointment with the brokers. For the smaller boats, however, spectators can come onboard if they are interested in buying.

What is the smallest boat?

The smallest boat being displayed on the water is a runabout boat that is 22-feet-6-inches long, and 5-feet-11 wide. It is manufactured by Hermes.

Eating inside the boat show

The show will have dozens of food concessions featuring almost anything you could be craving, from Greek gyros to woodfired picanha, authentic street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. On a seafood diet? Enjoy fresh stone crab claws, calamari, oysters, and much more! Vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free? No problem; they have options for you as well.

And libations at the boat show?

Of course there will be drinks. To be precise, there will be four bars for general admission guests, including two floating cocktail barges: the Goslings Island Bar and the Anheuser-Busch Barge. In addition there will be multiple bars in the Windward VIP Club.
